The anime industry is a lot bigger now than it was just a few decades ago, and many franchises have come and gone in the meantime. But a few, like Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, have been through it all over the years and is still a running series even now.
To celebrate the same, the One Piece anime was honored with the Best Continuing Series Award at the recent Crunchyroll Anime Awards event, leaving the fans in awe. Furthermore, there were even many Attacks On Titan fans who were left disappointed as their anime’s final part failed to win the title.
Legacy Of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece Over The Years
Eiichiro Oda’s brilliance in writing is something that cannot be debated about. It is because of his excellent story-weaving skills that millions of fans around the globe now wait for a regular manga and anime release every single week.
With the first-ever chapter coming out back in 1997, One Piece is the best-selling manga of all time. This has also allowed its creator to become the wealthiest mangaka ever, with an estimated net worth of $200 Million. The release of the manga was shortly followed by an anime adaptation in 1999 which is running till today and has managed to impact a lot of lives along the way.
The series is also considered to be one of the Big Three anime of all time, which includes Naruto and Bleach, other than One Piece itself. While it would have made sense for Attack on Titan to be a fair contender for the Best Continuing Anime title for 2024, it does not come close to the loyalty Eiichiro Oda has managed to build over the decades.
On another note, the series has not only won the award in 2024 but has rather won it in Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2023 as well, making One Piece a defending champion, a match it won before it even began.
However, fans of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan should not be upset yet, as the series Final Season Final Chapter Part 1 has won titles in other genres. This includes the title of the Best Drama Anime as well as Best Scoring Anime.
Fan Reactions To One Piece Winning The Best Continuing Anime Award
As predicted, many fans of the series were filled with joy and expressed it on social media platforms to celebrate the award. One of the users even went to the extent of saying how the series poses as the blueprint for continuity in the anime industry. The reactions are as below:

I voted for Attack on Titan, but One Piece is also valid. Both series are masterpieces, so it’s deserved.

While the creator might have hinted a how he finally has an ending to the series in mind, a few more years are remaining before we finally get to see a conclusion to Luffy’s dream of becoming the King of the Pirates.
One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
