There are many different factions of groups that exist simultaneously in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. One such faction is of the World Government, a body which is recognized as the ultimate ruling body of the whole world, and also is the main cause of many problems.
Within the World Government, there is a rather complicated hierarchy system. Nonetheless, what we do know is how at the top of the chain are the Five Elders, also called the Gorosei. While these five individuals might function under the shadow ruler Imu, they are still the ones who make most of the primary decisions necessary and are feared across the globe.
The Five Elders Of One Piece, Explained
Eiichiro Oda has subtly increased the number of times The Straw Hat pirates bump against the Five Elders. This is most notable in the recent manga chapters that cover the Egghead Island arc, depicting the capabilities and fighting style of one of the Gorosei.
As mentioned before, the Five Elders serve the top position in the World Government just before Imu and are presumably one of the most fearsome forces to exist in the whole franchise. They are responsible for many accidents and events over the many years they have ruled and are playing a significant role in the ongoing Egghead Arc.
The Five Elders are Jaygarcia Saturn, Marcus Mars, Topman Warcury, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, and Shepherd Ju Peter. Together, this group looks over many essential fields from a political perspective, ranging from Science and Defence to Environment and Agriculture.
How Powerful Are The Gorosei Of The World Government In One Piece
Unfortunately, not much has been disclosed about the powers of these characters yet in the series, except for the fact that they possess immense strength. We have luckily got an in-depth showcase as to how the powers of Jaygarcia Saturn might work.
With his involvement in the recent Egghead Island Arc, we know how he possesses the power of a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, which allows him to transform into a huge spider with a horned body. All the other elders are known to possess the powers of equally powerful Zoan Devil Fruits, making them formidable opponents.
Another intriguing ability that the Gorosei in One Piece seems to possess is the power to summon themselves. This is a technique that has not yet been described or even mentioned once in the whole series until the recent Egghead Island arc, where Saturn is shown using it and is rumored to further utilize it to summon the other elders.
