Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is out and has welcomed widespread appreciation from everywhere. As per the fans, James Gunn’s brilliant in portraying the last ride for our beloved Guardians most beautifully. But this has also led some fans to compare the Guardians trilogy to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, resulting in a vast fan war.
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy is considered to be the most remarkable comic book movie trilogy ever. Not only the three movies received acclaim from everywhere, but all of them also received the tag of huge box office hits. The comparison of it to the MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy has led to different perspectives and points about both movies.
Is Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy better than The Dark Knight Trilogy?
There are several reasons why the Christian Bale-Christopher Nolan-led trilogy is still hugely talked about. When it comes to comic book movies, it is considered the top-tier project that everyone looks up to. But on the other hand, after the recent Volume 3 turned out to be a top-notch and successful MCU project in giving our Guardians the farewell it deserved, Marvel fans deem Guardians of the Galaxy to be at par or even better than The Dark Knight Trilogy.
But even after being the best one, The Dark Knight Trilogy faced one criticism for a long time. Many moviegoers claim that the second movie is peak while the rest two don’t touch that. This was mostly raised after The Dark Knight Rises wasn’t well received by many. Now while the James Gunn-directed Guardians trilogy also has its share of ups and downs, a tweet claimed that this latest trilogy tops Nolan’s trilogy as it is “amazing all throughout”.

As soon as the fans of both studios spotted this, all hell broke loose and a huge virtual brawl was started to decide the best comic book movie trilogy. While Nolan’s trilogy was accused to peak only in one movie, the fans claimed that the comparison between a CGI-heavy MCU action flick to a much more grounded and realistic take as The Dark Knight Trilogy isn’t valid.

Although Guardians of the Galaxy starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and others is a great franchise under the MCU umbrella, it cannot be denied that Vol. 2 received a significant amount of mixed to average reviews. On the other hand, even after being a trilogy, one needs to watch the Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and also a Holiday Special to follow the events of the latest Guardians movie. So while the MCU fan held the James Gunn trilogy at the top, this point acted as a major claim against it.

NO MCU Trilogy can top it because every MCU Trilogy requires you to watch Avengers movies(or Holiday specials) in between, making it "not a trilogy"
No MCU Trilogy in a vacuum of just the 3 films is complete. Thus none of them can surpass or even match TDK Trilogy.

James Gunn’s last MCU venture acts as a farewell to our OG Guardians team and as already confirmed, some characters will be spotted for the last time in the MCU in this project. The movie garnered an amazing reception followed by a lackluster series of Marvel projects in recent times. But despite being a beautiful conclusion, Guardians of the Galaxy Trilogy’s comparison to The Dark Knight Trilogy will continue to be a matter of debate between both fandoms.
