“Can’t judge him based on an MCU work. He will have to make Superman a blockbuster to at least be considered against Nolan. DC’s characters are more challenging to work with as they have complex personalities that are difficult to work out on screen.”

Another said,

“I wouldn’t even put Nolan in the top 10 of good comic book movie directors. Raimi, Russo Bros, Reeves, Burton, Proyas, Cronenberg, Travis, Russell, Wright, and Johnston before Nolan any day.”

A user weighed the pros and cons,

“That’s hard to say, do I think Christopher Nolan could direct a GotG film, I am a massive fan of Nolan, but I don’t he could.”

On the other hand, could James Gunn direct the Dark Knight films, yeah, but they wouldn’t be as good. We never of gotten Heath Ledger’s Joker.
