With Todd Phillips back in the director’s chair, alongside Phoenix’s return as DC’s Joker, this time Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn made the sequel even more promising than the first one.
Although we all know that Oscar and Grammy winner Lady Gaga was born to be a star, now the actress/singer is transforming into an iconic DC comic book character Harley Quinn. Addressing her character during an interview with Access Hollywood, Lady Gaga revealed adding authenticity to her role, especially after being compared to her predecessor Margot Robbie.

Ever since Lady Gaga has been associated with the Joker sequel, fans have been constantly comparing her to Margot Robbie’s version in Suicide Squad and other DC flicks. However, it seems the actress/singer is set to make Robbie proud by adding her authentic take on the role. Meanwhile, Margot Robbie was previously praised for bringing the notorious DC character Harley Quinn to life first time in Suicide Squad, followed by the spinoff Birds of Prey and the quasi-reboot The Suicide Squad. Robbie briefly narrated Harley’s origin story of being the psychiatrist treating the Joker in Arkham Asylum in a deleted montage scene from Suicide Squad starring Jared Leto.
Considering her experience in playing the DC character, fans had expected that Joker: Folie á Deux would bring back Margot Robbie in the role of Harley Quinn. However, the opportunity later went to Lady Gaga, and despite losing the role, Robbie expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the actress/singer. Speaking with Variety while on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards, Robbie openly praised Lady Gaga.
Oh my god, she’s going to crush it. Are you kidding? She’s going to be amazing! I can’t wait to see it… I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know, so I can save it for the surprise when I get to see the movie.
