The Marvels did little to grab viewers’ attention with their main story, which saw the trio of Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau take on a Kree revolutionary to save the universe. As a result, it cemented itself as the lowest-grossing title in the MCU.
However, it did manage to get the internet talking by teasing X-Men fans through Kelsey Grammer’s cameo appearance at the end. Hank McCoy, aka Beast, first appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand. This led to another star of the 2006 hit facing a question about his own future in the MCU.
X-Men Star Gives a Cryptic Response About Following Kelsey Grammer’s Footsteps
After The Marvels, all eyes are on Marvel Studios’ next big screen project, Deadpool 3. The third installment of Deadpool is expected to be closely connected to Fox’s X-Men universe, given the history of Merc with a Mouth.
Apart from Ryan Reynolds’ character, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is also entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Since the Shawn Levy-directed film is going to be a multiversal adventure, more X-Men characters may end up making their MCU debuts in the summer of 2024.
Aaron Stanford, who featured in X-Men: The Last Stand alongside Kelsey Grammer, was recently asked about his thoughts on joining his former X-Men pals in the franchise. Stanford portrayed Pyro – a mutant who can control fire – in two Fox-backed Marvel titles.
In an interview with The Direct, he didn’t seem too convinced by the idea.
“I’d have to think about it. You know, it’s a character that, I’ve been there and done that. I quite enjoyed it. And I still have many, many fond memories and a lot of lasting friendships from those experiences… I don’t know, man. It’s an intriguing question. I would have to consider it.”
Stanford most recently showed his talents in Jenna Ortega starrer crime thriller, Finestkind (2023).
What Kelsey Grammer Said About His The Marvels’ Appearance
In The Marvels, Monica Rambeau gets trapped in an alternative reality in her attempts to close a space-time hole created by Dar-Benn. In a mid-credits scene, Teyonah Parris‘ character wakes up in a high-tech lab and finds an alternate version of her mother, Maria Rambeau.
In this very scene, fans also see Grammer’s furry blue mutant. Recalling his brief stint, Grammer told Entertainment Tonight:
“Beast is a passion for me. I’ve always wanted to be a blue person and now I am in film.”
The 68-year-old also added that he “certainly hopes” to play the character again and there has been “some discussion” concerning the same.
As per IMDb, Grammer liked the Marvel Comics character so much that he agreed to do an audition for The Last Stand. It was his first audition in over two decades.
Despite receiving positive feedback from fans, Grammer made limited appearances in the X-Men universe in the 2010s as the creative minds opted to focus on a younger version of the character.
