Jamie Foxx and Snoop Dogg have had a solid friendship for more than 20 years and have worked together on several projects, including music albums and movies. Foxx claimed that Snoop Dogg is among the most dependable persons he knows and that he and Snoop Dogg are similar to brothers. Both of them have praised each other for their work and dedication to the industry.
However, Jamie Foxx refused to do the vampire comedy-action film, Day Shift, without his close friend, Dave Franco, famously known for the heist-thriller film, Now You See Me and its sequel. Jamie Foxx stars as a blue-collar father whose pool-cleaning job is a front for his work as a vampire hunter and his co-stars for the movie are Karla Souza, Snoop Dogg, Steve Howey, and many others.
Jamie Foxx Wanted Dave Franco For His 2022 Film: Day Shift
Jamie Foxx refused to do the vampire comedy-action film Day Shift without Dave Franco. The actor admitted in a Collider interview that the Day Shift script’s distinct fusion of action, humor, and horror appealed to him. However, he was hesitant to sign on to the project until he knew who would be playing his co-star, as he particularly wanted Franco, the star from Now You See Me, for the role.
Franco’s work really inspires Foxx, so the chance to work with him on the film was exciting to him. Franco was originally hesitant to accept the part, but Foxx persuaded him to. In the end, Day Shift had outstanding performances from Foxx and Franco. Therefore, it is somewhat evident that Foxx’s choice to urge Franco to appear in the film was a wise one.
“And I knew I had the right guy to do it because I literally told J. J., ‘I don’t want to do the movie unless Dave Franco’s in the movie. I’ve been tracking this dude for years, man.’ And I tell people all time, ‘I’m a comic snob. I’m the comic elite.’ People may make me laugh, but I want to know how he was making me laugh because he was doing it in such a clever way.”
This statement was made by Jamie Foxx during an interview with Collider.
Day Shift did not perform well at the box office since it was only available on Netflix for streaming. However, it received mostly positive reviews, earning 57% on Rotten Tomatoes and 51 on Metacritic. The movie’s action scenes, comedy, and performances, especially those of Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco were acclaimed by critics. Critics have, however, also questioned the film’s narrative and use of cliches.
