Auditioning isn’t the easiest of tasks, and ends up going wrong quite a lot of times because of bad auditioning or simply misunderstandings, even if the one auditioning is an already star-studded actor. Something similar happened during the early career of Dakota Johnson as well, who is Hollywood’s currently ruling ‘Queen of Valentine’s Day’.
While promoting her recently released superhero movie Madame Web, which marks her official debut as a superheroine in the Sony-Marvel universe, Johnson shared this one awful audition story of hers where she claims she pretty much “ruined” the show creator’s life. And believe us when we say this: This story could very well upset you.
Dakota Johnson “Ruined” A Showrunner’s Life Through Her Audition
Bad auditions are a part of almost every actor’s life, and Dakota Johnson falls in this very category as well. Just like many other actors, the Fifty Shades Saga actress has her own story of an awfully failed audition, though this one holds the potential of even upsetting her fans.
During a recent interview with MTV, while promoting her first and newly released movie for the Sony-Marvel universe, Madame Web, Johnson was asked by Josh Horowitz to share her ‘worst audition experience’ so far. To this, the actress said:
“I got told by a creator of a show – he told [me] – like the feedback was that I was pretentious. Because I shook everyone’s hand in the [audition] room. I was like, ‘What?’ [Like] I wasted their time, because I was like, ‘Hi, I’m Dakota,’ and introduced myself and shook hands.”
While that in itself sounds extremely embarrassing and upsetting because of the undoubtedly petty reason that she was called ‘pretentious’, Josh Horowitz then continued to ask her if she had axed that audition out of her life and since then, “just barely look at anybody when you walk in a room.”
To this, Johnson said:
“Oh, I’ve ruined his life.”
Well, Dakota Johnson may have managed to slip away with telling this one audition story of hers as a mere embarrassing experience for her, but fans aren’t willing to let this go just like that and are showing their support to the Madame Web actress for having to go through something like this.
Fans Aren’t Okay With Dakota Johnson’s “Most Traumatic Audition”
Even though Dakota Johnson didn’t publicly reveal the name of the show creator who called her “pretentious” or the name of the show for which she auditioned, fans are still rallying for the actress to have suffered this injustice.
Taking to X, most of her fans are expressing their upset reactions to this revelation by Johnson about her “most traumatic audition.” Some of them are saying:

You know, it serves as a good reminder of how crucial authenticity is in an industry that's so often overshadowed by superficial judgments. Talent should be celebrated, not dismissed over trivial gestures.

This happens way too often. They look at you like cattle in that room. Which one to buy and which to send to the butcher… get too personal and they find it invasive and an over reach

And that TV creator probably created a bunch of bad shows & still is employed today.
Dear Hollywood,
Audience like & want to support actors & actresses who are actually nice people not just faking it for the camera.

It's just that… the time of kindness from the humble of heart is not the same as that of the arrogant, who spend their lives measuring the distance between the people around them.__Ancerg

While this enraged reaction of fans is as just as ever, what’s worth noting is that despite having suffered such a traumatic audition experience, Dakota Johnson still continues to thrive in the industry as one of the best actors to date.
Dakota Johnson’s superhero movie Madame Web, which officially marks her debut in the Sony-Marvel universe as a superheroine, is out in theatres now.
