One of them, perhaps the most enticing and envy-inducing, is the superheroes’ secret lairs. From vehicular bases to towers, fortresses to skyscrapers—these fictional hideouts or bases of operations have consistently birthed (often unrealized) desires from its connoisseurs to have something of a comparable scale. The most famous, though, is perhaps Batman’s ultra-modern, moody yet opulent hideaway—the Batcave.

Although every comic-book fan has presumably wanted to have their personalized version of a Batcave, the Rush Hour star has been able to live the desire harbored by countless others!

A clip obtained from an old interview of the The Karate Kid star is making rounds across the internet, garnering a viral stature. Posted on Instagram, the video shows Chan entering a house, which the voice-over implies has been made out of an anonymous factory in Hong Kong. While the renowned martial artist owns several homes across the globe, his renovated factory house serves as a private hideout, away from the eyes of tourists who previously swarmed his other residences.

He describes his secret lair as follows:

“Then, I built my secret home. It’s [in] an industrial area. There’s no tour bus that comes. From outside, [you wouldn’t know] that’s the home!”

The exterior and the location of the property may make it impossible to reckon it’s somebody’s residence, but from inside, Chan’s factory-renovated home is a dream come true. Upon entering, one is greeted by what has been dubbed a “cavernous” play area, which seems to be the living room. The floors above are where one would find the star’s gym and multiple offices.

Within the accessible apartment of the factory-turned-home, there were several secrets the actor was happy to share with the viewers. He also acknowledged drawing inspiration for his hideout from Superman and Batman TV shows!

Chan flaunted his secret home’s bathroom before showing viewers a hidden room beyond a mirror! Straight out of the movies, the hidden room leads into a walk-in closet. The actor added that the idea of underground secret doors leading into newer, undiscovered rooms had long captivated him, and that’s how his early years of watching Batman and Superman shows influenced the design of the house.

Following was his comment:

“I like the … underground, secret door … When I was young, I’ve seen that [in] like Batman TV—Batman, Superman. This kind of secret, secret area. I have a secret door everywhere here!”

And when Jackie Chan said as much, he wasn’t lying. An additional room was discovered beyond the closet, and a door connecting the smaller space leads into the actor’s traditional Chinese bedroom. There’s another short-cut door attached to his office, seemingly surrounded by expensive collectibles, toys, posters, and memorabilia.

In an extended cut of the interview posted to YouTube, Chan also delved into his impressive custom-built wine cellars and a bar with a teacup collection from across the world. Alas, the star admitted to having grown tired of his collection, as after investing in these extravagant items, he didn’t harbor a passion for wine or teacups anymore!

Chan warned impressionable audiences to refrain from learning after him, claiming that his collection was a by-product of wasting money.

The video ended with the City Hunter alum showing project plans for another hidden retreat away from the city in an industrial area. This one would be close to the the sea, feature a bowling alley, and have everything needed to prevent the celebrity from ever leaving his cozy house.

With the conclusion of this rare peek at his Batcave-inspired hideout, we begin to realize that Jackie Chan is living everyone’s dreams, not just those of comic book lovers!
