Hailee Steinfeld is an incredibly talented and adored actress. Having starred in many massively successful projects like Arcane, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Dickinson, she has gathered a fan base of people who adore her not only as an actress but also as a person. Recently, she has also gathered a new type of fan following through her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Hawkeye. Starring as Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series, the actress became the highlight of the show, especially her interactions with Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.

It is common for actors to look to the source material for a project to understand their characters better, and in the case of comic characters, actors usually look into comic books to understand the best way to get into the role that they have been cast to play. This was not the case for Steinfeld, who revealed that her past work with Apple TV helped her the most to get into the role of Bishop for the series.

Hailee Steinfeld Talks About Working On Dickinson

Hailee Steinfeld featured in Apple TV’s Dickinson, where played the role of one of the most well-known poets in modern times, Emily Dickinson, as we follow her through her life. The series started airing on the streaming service in November of 2019, with its last season being released in December of 2021. Portraying a person such as this was not an easy task, with the poet having had a very difficult and tragic life, full of unhappiness. This may have been the reason why the series chose to adopt a much lighter tone for itself.

With Hawkeye having been released in November of 2021, it can be said that Steinfeld moved from finishing a meaningful project to starting one that will perhaps change her life for good. Speaking on this, the actress revealed that this rollercoaster ride had been an amazing experience for her and she could not wait to fully enter the world of the MCU as Kate Bishop.

Hailee Steinfeld Explains How Working On Dickinson Has Helped Her With Hawkeye

Hailee Steinfeld then went on to talk about how working on Dickinson has helped her in many ways. This includes learning how to portray and play characters who are confident, driven, and independent female figures. This skill seemed to have been useful for her in more ways than one.

“I am so excited to have gone from playing a character like Emily Dickinson for the last three years — and because I feel I’ve spent so much time with her in playing this very strong and determined and independent and driven female character — going into one that has those same qualities was a very exciting thing for me. And entering the world of Kate Bishop and entering the world of the Marvel Universe has been absolutely incredible and a rollercoaster ride, to say the least and I cannot wait for the show to come out.” The actress told Screen Rant

Elaborating on this, she revealed that playing Emily Dickinson helped her understand the best ways to play the character of Kate Bishop. She then added that going onto a character that shares similar qualities to that of Dickinson is something she was very excited to get into.
