Given the massive popularity the show reached at the time, DC renewed it for another season in February last year. However, the franchise has a lot on its plate which made many wonder about the series, but the studio’s co-boss, James Gunn shares a new update admitting that the new season is somewhat suffering due to DCU.

He shared,

“First season was about a week per episode. This one’s more because of everything else happening.”

Given that Gunn along with Peter Safran is taking charge of projects under the Gods and Monsters slate, it is going to take a lot more time to pen each story in the second season. He explained,

“It’s more thinking than writing, so no carpo.”

Following that, he also dropped an interesting throwback of writing his first novel in his twenties which was never released. He further commented that it shouldn’t need to be released.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director has currently become a jack of all trades due to working on different projects simultaneously. It is well known that he is directing and penning DC’s anticipated project, Superman: Legacy which is set to release on July 11, 2025. The movie continues to engage the fans as cast details continue to drop. David Corenswet is set to debut as the new Man of Steel.

Not just that, he is also deeply engaged in the making of Creature Commandos, DCU’s first project which is set to drop next year. Now that this year is nearly coming to an end, completing the show to be released next year is going to be one of his priorities. Other than that, the franchise’s soft reboot is another thing that is keeping him engaged which fairly explains the time he is investing on John Cena‘s project.

However, The Suicide Squad director is quite interested in Peacemaker as he once stated in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter

“Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max.” He added, “To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where team Peacemaker goes in season two!”

Most of the main cast members are expected to return in the upcoming season including Cena, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, and Viola Davis. While the second season doesn’t have a release date yet, season 1 of Peacemaker is now streaming on HBO Max.
