Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie was met with mixed reactions from fans and critics, and its ultimate bombing at the box office somehow killed all hope for the character’s future. It’s very unfortunate that The Rock’s debut in the DC world was not as spectacular as he hoped for, given that he has repeatedly expressed his love for this passion project.

With the newly revamped DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s legacy, a new dawn can shine on Johnson’s ill-fated hero. In fact, one show can help redeem Black Adam.

Black Adam’s Possible Appearance In Peacemaker Season 2

John Cena’s Peacemaker series ended its first season with a jaw-dropping Justice League cameo, leaving fans in awe and hopeful for the possibility of seeing more DCEU characters in future installments.

Many names are expected to make surprise cameos, but one of the most popular theories circulating the Internet is the potential sighting of Black Adam. It is uncertain if Dwayne Johnson will still portray the anti-hero in the upcoming season because James Gunn previously confirmed that Season 2 will address the DCU continuity that is set to replace the DCEU.

Recasting has been made in various projects under the new management so there is a high chance that someone else will portray the character. Nonetheless, it is a great way to reintroduce Black Adam in the DC Universe, giving the character another shot at exploring its own story and eventually teaming up with other heroes (or villains) from other franchises.

Dwayne Johnson Addressed Why Black Adam Failed

It’s difficult for Dwayne Johnson to talk about the failure of a project he has long been preparing for the world to see. The actor poured his heart and soul into it, only to get caught in the middle of a crisis that has nothing to do with the movie’s creative production. He shared his sentiments via Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart show:

I think that Black Adam got caught in a vortex of new leadership. And at that time, as we were creating Black Adam, developing it, shooting Black Adam, we got knocked down a little bit because of COVID and the shutdowns, got back up. There were so many changes in leadership.”

The Rock admitted he did everything to make the film as interesting and inclusive as possible despite all the roadblocks that happened because of various circumstances, such as the pandemic and the reorganization:

You have the biggest opening of your career. Sure, no China, which could’ve been maybe 100 or 200 million more dollars. You have a superhero, and you want to grow out the franchise. You bring back Superman and Henry Cavill, which the world went crazy. And we created a diverse superhero portfolio, where we have just men and women of color in Black Adam.”

Still, he could not just mope around and wallow in self-despair. Johnson accepted that some things don’t go the way we envisioned them. Black Adam had a lot of potential to revive the DCEU, but since the announcement of Gunn and Safran’s takeover of the DC Studios, all these plans were scrapped.

The only thing that could redeem Black Adam is to join successful projects such as Peacemaker and start the momentum from there.
