James Gunn had gained massive support from the DC fans, as he had initially taken over the DC Studios and shared his upcoming projects, which were loved by fans all over the world. However, soon he fell out of support as he decided to Henry Cavill and replace him with David Corenswet who resembled the actor. Nevertheless, fans got used to the news with a lot of disappointment, as they believed that he would cast actors accordingly for the upcoming film.
However, fans are furious at James Gunn for casting Sean Gunn, his brother as the sinister villain, Maxwell Lord. The announcement of the casting choice got the fans fuming at the Co-CEO, as they could not believe that Gunn would hire his family members over world-class actors who would have been the perfect choice to play the roles.
James Gunn Hires His Brother In Superman: Legacy
The news of James Gunn hiring Sean Gunn, his brother as Maxwell Lord, a possible villain in Superman: Legacy. What’s interesting is that none of the fans had previously anticipated that the character would return in his rebooted DCU. The role was previously portrayed by Pedro Pascal in the 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984.
However, what’s not clear is whether Sean Gunn will make his official debut in the film by playing the main villain or will he just make a cameo and play an important role, later in the DCU film. As per Deadline, the character “will be referenced in the background of Legacy but will appear in future DC projects.”
Regardless of the screen time, fans are not happy with the co-CEO for the casting choice, as they criticize him for his choice and how he could have had a better actor for the role.
alright James this isn’t funny anymore

A fan comments how they have been always a fan of James Gunn and his work, but this time they were disappointed as it didn’t blow them away, and how it was just too obvious.
Uhhhh I love James Gunn but this and the Nathan Dillion casting I really don’t like, this one more so I don’t like cause he looks NOTHING like the character and ik many great casting has happened in hindsight it this is just too obvious with him casting his family and all

Another fan states that this news is extremely disappointing and they already consider on par with Jesse Eisenberg who was hired to play the role of Lex Luthor in the SnyderVerse.

A fan states that unless Sean Gunn acts in the role, they will not be convinced that he’s the perfect choice for the role.
Eh….here I definitely have to see him act, because he doesn’t convince me for that role.

The idea of the Gunn brothers working together in a movie is not happening for the first time, as they had collaborated together in the MCU in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, where he played the role of Kraglin. But that’s not all as he played the role of Weasel in James Gunn’s DCEU film The Suicide Squad.
