However, soon he fell out of support as he decided to Henry Cavill and replace him with David Corenswet who resembled the actor. The news of James Gunn hiring Sean Gunn, his brother as Maxwell Lord, a possible villain in Superman: Legacy. What’s interesting is that none of the fans had previously anticipated that the character would return in his rebooted DCU. The role was previously portrayed by Pedro Pascal in the 2020 film Wonder Woman 1984.

However, what’s not clear is whether Sean Gunn will make his official debut in the film by playing the main villain or will he just make a cameo and play an important role, later in the DCU film. As per Deadline, the character “will be referenced in the background of Legacy but will appear in future DC projects.”

Regardless of the screen time, fans are not happy with the co-CEO for the casting choice, as they criticize him for his choice and how he could have had a better actor for the role.

Another fan criticized the casting decision, as he stated that it was the first disappointing choice in Gunn’s DCU.

A fan comments how they have been always a fan of James Gunn and his work, but this time they were disappointed as it didn’t blow them away, and how it was just too obvious.

Another fan states that this news is extremely disappointing and they already consider on par with Jesse Eisenberg who was hired to play the role of Lex Luthor in the SnyderVerse.

The idea of the Gunn brothers working together in a movie is not happening for the first time, as they had collaborated together in the MCU in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, where he played the role of Kraglin. James Gunn Shares An Update on Superman: Legacy’s Script

After James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the DC Studios as Co-CEOs, they decided to reboot the entire franchise and come up with the Gods & Monsters chapter, which featured several exciting projects including a Superman movie. Since then, a number of updates have been shown related to the film. James Gunn, who has been writing the script of the film often gives exciting updates regarding the script.

This time he went to Threads, to give an exciting update on the film’s script, as it has been “99.9%” done but he is making minor changes to suit his vision.

“99.9%. I’m always changing small things but it’s been essentially done since well before the strike.”

Since the script has been essentially done, it can be assumed that things are going quite smoothly for the film, and it will most likely be released on the expected release date.
