Rumors suggest that Vin Diesel, who has continued to voice the iconic character, received a whopping $54 million for that one line. Those $54 million rumors out there about Vin Diesel, aren’t true! Well, the verdict has come from the Guardians of The Galaxy director himself as James Gunn laughed at Vin Diesel‘s “I Am Groot” salary rumors that have been surfacing across the internet.
A recent claim made rounds on Twitter, suggesting that Vin Diesel, who voiced the beloved character Groot, received $54 million for just saying “I Am Groot”. Gunn was quick to shit these claims down, stating, “Not true”, of course with a laughing emoji.
As Gunn debunks these baseless rumors, it’s worth noting that some sources claimed that the Fast & Furious franchise star made around $13 million per movie for his role as Groot. Diesel’s character remains one of the most crucial characters in these movies.
Even though Groot isn’t as actionable as the others, his role surely receives due credit, which is reflected in the fact that every co-star receives Groot’s script along with Diesel to understand the character’s speech.
Alpha Groot’s Final Appearance In Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Is Emotional
While fans have always remained in a conflict in choosing whom to love more, the Baby Groot or the Alpha Groot, Vin Diesel surely has an emotional attachment to both sides of the beloved anthropomorphic tree.
The star has voiced this character since the very beginning of this film series, and the character’s farewell would be emotional for him. His journey as Baby Groot to the coming Alpha Groot in the final installment has truly been incredible.
The character is so beloved that it even resulted in Disney + animated series, I Am Groot, created by Kristen Lepore. The talented director famously said:
“I was blown away by Vin in the recording session. He just stepped up to the plate and nailed it…He’s a fantastic actor and gave a subtly different performance with every ‘I Am Groot’ on every read. He brought so much life to Baby Groot.”
Guardians of The Galaxy became the highest-grossing superhero film of 2014. Accompanied by some of the classic 60s and 70s songs, handpicked by James Gunn, the movie’s success led to the creation of two more volumes.
