A team of ‘superheroes’ full of monsters and freaks, Creature Commandos are a team of superhumans in a special military unit with exceptional combat skills and a strong sense of camaraderie. Slated to be the first DCU show, it is written by James Gunn himself.

Starring an amazing cast of actors voicing the fan-favorite military superhumans, it also stars the Marvel actor David Harbour as Frankenstein. Having all but seven episodes, he recently confirmed on Threads that the show will indeed be released in the latter half of 2024.

A while back in November, Gunn even confirmed via X that the show was never postponed since animation was never under the SAG-AFTRA contract.

“Yes, Creature Commandos is all set to come out in 2024… There have never been any delays, thank goodness. Any info otherwise is a well-intentioned mistake or misspeaking… Animation isn’t part of the SAG contract, but it still doesn’t matter as everyone’s lines have been recorded for a long time, and animation has been going full speed ahead for a while.”

Tied to the live-action movies releasing later, fans are certainly excited for DCU’s first chapter under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Peacemaker opened a new chapter for DC, as fans regarded it as one of the best DCU series ever thanks to its mature and fresh storyline. Starring John Cena as Christopher Smith, the show is now part of the DCU timeline. While he had confirmed previously on X that the show would be released after Superman: Legacy (slated to release July 11, 2025), there has been no update ever since.

While Gunn has been staying silent on the topic, the lead star, John Cena, recently gave an update about the show. Speaking to Variety while at the premiere of The Iron Claw, he stated,

“I hope we see more Peacemaker. I sure as hell had a fun time doing that. I know they’re shifting around some things around over at DC, but I know that James Gunn’s made some statements that we’re going in for season 2, and what he says usually he does.”

Seeing as things are going, fans will have to wait a couple of years more for the potential season 2 of Peacemaker. Meanwhile, season 1 can be streamed on Max.
