With DC’s upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ready to hit the silver screen on 22 December 2023, Jason Momoa appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote his movie. Speaking about the training and behind the scenes, the actor was asked about his new Aquaman suit.
Speaking with Kelly Clarkson about his upcoming movie and the fun experience he had on set, Jason Momoa addressed his new superhero suit that DC used to avoid CGI issues. However, Momoa recalled how his new outfit and the make-up intimidated the cast and crew.
Jason Momoa Discussed Aquaman 2 Behind The Scenes
Jason Momoa has come a long way since his debut in DC as Aquaman in Batman v Superman (2016). Following his brief cameo, the actor eventually got the opportunity to appear in a standalone Aquaman movie in 2018. Now, after years of filming, production, and controversies, Momoa is ready to release his upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Jason Momoa discussed his work experience and broke down behind-the-scenes footage from the set. With the host pulling up a video of Momoa training on a giant saddle in front of green screens, the actor explained what it’s all about.
“Well, that’s how you go faster. If you want the animal to go faster, you’ve got to really go… If you want to slow it down, you’ve got to just slow it down. Because there’s no steering wheel!”
Although Jason Momoa’s body language while explaining hinted at a rather PG-rated discussion, Kelly Clarkson managed the conversation and changed the topic. Initially beginning the conversation by asking the actor about his passion for dancing, Clarkson eventually had to shift the double-meaning raunchy discussion toward Momoa’s new Aquaman suit.
Jason Momoa Intimidated His Crew With His New Suit
While DC films and other superhero movies have often faced criticism for using CGI to create superhero suits, Aquaman 2 finally brought a change. Using a real tangible body suit for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, DC improved the visuals without implementing CGI. Thus, Jason Momoa spoke about his new suit during his appearance on the talk show.
Transitioning to Aquaman’s costumes, designed by Richard Sale, Kelly Clarkson stated how stunning they look. The host noted that Jason Momoa must feel incredibly powerful after donning the Aquaman suit. To which, Momoa mentioned how easily he intimidated his cast and crew with his new suit.
“You know what’s really fun if you’re talking to someone and you’ll be on set with one of the grips and then you have to go put the suit on and you come back 15 minutes later and you’re like, ‘Hey, what’s up Bob?’ And he’s just like –” Momoa shared.
“They’re intimidated” Clarkson blurted.
“Yeah, because you’ve got the eyes in and the hair and the body. You’re a lot bigger than what you were 15 minutes ago.” Momoa noted.
“Yeah, I’d be scared as sh*t of that guy,” Clarkson admitted.
The Aquaman actor himself is quite big and bulky; further adding a massive suit and defining makeup, sure turns him into a rather intimidating and god-like figure.
