The journey of the DCEU had been a bumpy and uncertain one, to say the least, which ultimately resulted in lackluster films and disappointing sequels. The only saving grace that the franchise had was 2018’s Aquaman, which brought actor Jason Momoa to the forefront, resulting in the movie becoming the highest-grossing DCEU film of all time.

Alas, one blockbuster isn’t enough to save an entire sinking franchise, which is exactly why the DCEU was scrapped, and James Gunn, along with Peter Safran, took the reins of DC Studios and immediately implemented their vision in the form of the DCU.

Although it was reported that the star would not be part of the new franchise, fans are now a little bit suspicious of that claim, especially after he has dropped subtle hints that might suggest he may be playing Lobo in the DCU in the future with his latest interview.

There had been many reports earlier that the DCU, under the watchful eye of James Gunn and Peter Safran, would be bringing the character of Lobo to life from the pages of DC Comics to the big screen. But those rumors had since died down until Jason Momoa stoked the fire once again with his most recent interview for his film Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.

In the interview mentioned above with Fandango, the Conan The Barbarian star opened up about his hobby of collecting comics when he was young, and how Lobo was his favorite character growing up. Thus, seeing that the DCEU will cease to exist after the release of his last Aquaman film, he would love to play the character in the DCU, all that the CEOs of DC Studios need to do is give him a call.

This should’ve been a hint enough, but in the past, during the promotion tour for his then-upcoming film Slumberland, he had also given hints about how the fans might see him as the interstellar mercenary in DCU soon.

Thus, these subtle clues may one day add up for the big reveal that the star will return to the new franchise as a new character.

The character was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, who made his debut appearance in DC’s issue of Omega Men #3. In the comics, the character is an intergalactic mercenary and a bounty hunter doing any job for the right price, no matter how hard or dangerous.

The character’s powers include literal immortality and super healing and regenerative powers, along with invulnerability. Along with being a complete madman when it comes to his job, makes him truly terrifying.
