You Won’t Believe What Made Jason Momoa’s Veins Pop During the Shooting of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom!

Jason Momoa is a health freak beast, though his Hawaiian genes lend a hand too. But he has also mastered the art of pressing certain buttons to achieve his desired look. It’s no secret that he put in serious work to sculpt his physique for Aquaman. Yet, when he wanted to feel a bit more “swole” and get those veins popping, he knew just what to do.

There were essentially two things that aided him, one was peanut butter and yams, and the other, some would never guess, was beer. Although he explained he didn’t have much of a sweet tooth, his diet made it easier for the veins to pop creating a display of pure magic.

In a recent chat with Men’s Health magazine, he explained,

“It’s a consistency thing. I’m just Hawaiian. I’m half Polynesian. There’s not a lot of Polynesians rolling around where you see veins popping out. It’s a different body type. We’re big. The abs are different for us, but we’re big strong humans. My skin’s different. And I don’t eat sugars. I’m not a fan of chocolates or things like that. I don’t have a sweet tooth. So when we had to peak, they would give me peanut butter and yams. Because you have no carbs and because the veins are restricted, all of a sudden you should just look really swole, and filled up, and your veins pop.”

He further elaborated on what was going through his mind before requesting the beer and diving right in.

I was like, “Just give me a Guinness.” And I had been deprived for so long that I just cracked one of these, and both of my trainers were right in front of me, and they watched and I just had one. And you can see my veins… you can see everything just coming back to life. And they’re like, “You’re a freak. That makes no sense. You’re a freak.” I’m like, “My body— it’s what it loves. It’s what it likes.”

Momoa also clarified that he did it under supervision and didn’t go overboard for obvious reasons. And although those around him couldn’t make sense of what was happening, he had a hell of a lot of fun doing it.

What Was Jason Momoa’s Workout Plan for Aquaman 2?

Although the actor went overboard with the first movie, the second time around, it felt more natural. He revealed that he also understood what his body needed the most, making it more about “nurturing” his body than overkilling it in his training sessions. He explained in an interview with Men’s Journal,

“I find training with kettlebells and resistance bands very nurturing. I never did any kind of isolated training for my legs, because I’m part Hawaiian, and genetically that means if I train legs even just a little bit, they get huge. I have three big kettlebells I usually work with. I’ll do split squats, sumo squats, kettlebell swings, single-arm press for the shoulders, Turkish getups. I’ll wrap up with a 124-pound (56-kg) kettlebell.”

In addition to his training regimen, he has consistently emphasized the importance of sleep, diet, and having motivated people around him who keep him pumped up is key to crushing those workouts.

He believes that having a support system is crucial for success, especially when it comes to managing training loads. As he said,

With a focus on giving his body plenty of rest, nourishing eats, and the positive vibes, it deserves, he feels ready to tackle those workouts, even with his hectic schedule!
