Jenna Ortega is currently raging as one of the hottest names in the industry, and her mind-blowing acting skills and unparalleled beauty aren’t the only reasons why. As it turns out, one of the sizzling reasons behind her being the star of the limelight lately is that she is widely rumored to be dating another A-lister; someone nearly three times her age: Johnny Depp.
Of course, Ortega has nothing to react to these baseless reports with except denial, with her claiming she doesn’t even know Depp. But even then, there could be a likely collaboration for a project between the 21-year-old actress and the 61-year-old actor, with Tim Burton serving as the link between them – something especially likely after Ortega and Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Jenna Ortega Denies Even Knowing Johnny Depp
In an exclusive interview with BuzzFeed Celeb, the Scream star has once again set the record straight about her romance rumors with the renowned Pirates of the Caribbean alum. She claims to not know Depp on a personal level, and that she considers reports of them being in a “serious relationship” and wanting everyone “to leave us alone” the craziest rumors about her.
Candidly confessing during The Puppy Interview about the relationship she shares with the Edward Scissorhands star, Jenna Ortega said:
It’s so insane to me. Like, I never spoke on that. I never said anything like that. Articles really do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that that was pretty hilarious. […] I… I don’t know that person.
While Ortega is denying it all, Depp has also been following suit. Through his representative, he released this statement to NME about working with the actress, let alone sharing a relationship with her (via HuffPost):
Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.
All of this being said, not only does it seem unlikely that Johnny Depp is dating the Hollywood hotshot 40 years younger than him, but it also sounds like fans won’t be seeing the two working together or sharing the screen on Beetlejuice 2 anytime soon, as opposed to the rumors. But the possibility of these two collaborating is still there, with Burton being the link between them.
Tim Burton’s Connection to the Pair Could Help Them Collaborate
While the pair have quashed all rumors of them cozying up to each other, the chances of them collaborating are still there, irrespective of how minute. This is because of their connection to filmmaker Tim Burton, who already holds a special position in Depp’s life and career and is currently really taken by Ortega, having worked with her on two consecutive projects.
First off, Ortega and Burton joined forces while working on the smash hit Netflix thriller series Wednesday, which is currently being revived for its second season. Serving as a director and executive producer on the show, the filmmaker was all praise for the actress, claiming she had earned “a special place” in his heart by being a pro in his favorite horror genre (via BFI).
Plus, considering how this was followed by the actress and director once again shaking on working together on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, it seems like it won’t hurt to expect more projects from them. And considering how Depp is one of his closest collaborators and friends, having worked on many films together, Burton just may bring these 2 Hollywood giants in cahoots for a project.
Of course, this is all mere speculation based on facts and may be proven false, for all we know, so fans might as well take this with a pinch of salt as well.
