Embarrassing Oscar moments have chased Jennifer Lawrence as she hit the ground. While critics and fans doubted her fall at the Oscars was more predetermined accusing Lawrence of following a script for the moment, the actor clarified how she felt about the accusation.
The world was not ready to believe Lawrence’s fall was accidental but rather a meticulously performed act following a request from Academy organizers, however, it was not the case. The actor sets the record straight explaining the reason behind the fall.
Jennifer Lawrence Had Another Fall At the Oscars
Jennifer Lawrence appeared at the 96th Academy Award ceremony after she was invited to present the Best Actress Oscar. Ambassador of the event Amelia Dimoldenberg from the Chicken Shop Date web series asked the actor for tips for “not falling up the stairs” (via PEOPLE) retrieving the memories of her fall at the mega event of the celebration of movies in Hollywood.
“Well, yeah, just don’t do that. You know, I fell the next year too. So then it just looked like I 100% faked. Oh, it was awful.”
The actor’s infamous Oscar fall dates back to 2013 as she fumbled at the Dolby Theater while walking towards the stage to hold the golden statue for her performance in David O. Russell’s romance comedy Silver Linings Playbook.
Recalling the fall, Lawrence said, “I fell on a cone.” Dimoldenberg elevated her comment with a joke asking, “An ice cream cone?” To that, the actor candidly responded, “I wish. No, an orange cone.” Lawrence who attended the annual award ceremony for the celebration of cinematic prowess, for the first time in six years, revived the memory of her infamous Oscar fall and she never attempted to hide it.
Cake(Walk) Was The Devil For Jennifer Lawrence’s Infamous Oscar Fall
Following her embarrassing moment at the Oscars, the actor revealed the real reason behind her fall and it was surprising. “I was at the Oscars, waiting to hear if my name was called, and I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk,” Lawrence told EW.
“I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk.’ You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.”
Understandable, her Oscar win when she was just 20 years old made headlines but her fall grabbed more attention and still one of the most talked about Oscar embarrassments. Players star Liza Koshy met with a similar fate as Lawrence at the 2024 Oscars. However, the actor handled the situation with subtle humor.
