Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult’s Relationship

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult met on the set of 2011’s X-Men: First Class, Lawrence played Mystique, a shapeshifter with blue skin, and Hoult played The Beast. The two started dating quite soon after that. They were in a relationship for five years until the two called it quits. While many believe the reason for this breakup to be Lawrence’s rise to stardom as she had recently won an Oscar for her movie Silver Linings Playbook.

“The privacy thing obviously changes but the rest pretty much stays the same,” he said. “It’s like that thing whereby you don’t believe your own hype. Enjoy the good times, but don’t get swept away with it. I think that’s something she’s capable of doing, and that’s what makes her special, and I am just kind of a bystander in many ways,” Hoult stated at the time.

Hoult completely denied these theories, stating that fame did not affect their relationship as much as one would think. Despite this breakup, however, they two remained on amicable terms and were supportive of each other.

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult Had to Work Together After Breaking Up

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult were forced to work together in the 2019 movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix, years after their breakup. While many would expect there to be quite a lot of tension between the two but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Hoult mentioned that the atmosphere while filming was quite positive.

“It’s pretty similar to Skins, we’re a big family, we’ve been doing those movies since we were 20 years old. As much as the Skins crowd grew up together, the X-Men crowd really grew up together.” He continues, “It’s been a good eight, nine years making those movies. We’ve all got to get along, we’ve all got to have fun. The really beautiful thing about this last film is that [writer and director] Kim Berger has given me somewhere nice and new to experiment and go with the character. Which is cool.”

Lawrence also went on to as that Hoult was an amazing boyfriend to her and talked about how the key to a successful breakup for her is being blunt and truthful.
