Jennifer Lawrence proved herself as a real star when she earned more than the main lead actress in Dark Phoenix. The 2019 movie is not a movie the associates want to remember, but it showed Sophie Turner in a major role as Jean Grey. The actress who gained worldwide appreciation for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones couldn’t recreate similar success with Dark Phoenix, which turned out to be a box-office disaster.

The moment Sophie Turner lost to Jennifer Lawrence

From X-Men: First Class to Dark Phoenix, Jennifer Lawrence was seen as Raven Darkhölme aka Mystique four times. When she was roped in again for the role in the 2019 movie, the role was not much, but her name touched such a height that the Oscar winner received an approximate sum of $4.7 million for a simple cameo.

On the contrary, as reported by The Things, Sophie Turner, despite being the central character of the movie, received around $2 million. With some of the biggest hits under her collar such as The Hunger Games, Silver Linings Playbook, and Red Sparrow, Jennifer Lawrence is quite a big name in the industry presently. Besides that, the troubles faced by the actress to play Mystique also justify her higher paycheck.

As reported by Lawrence, after a prolonged 8 hours of makeup schedule, the mother-to-one had to spend a considerable time in a costume which presented another set of difficulties. As she once quipped,

But ultimately, Dark Phoenix couldn’t bring in more than $246 million against a $200 million budget and turned out to be a box office disaster. Further, with the deals and negotiations between Disney and Fox, the characters of X-Men are set to appear in the MCU soon. The MCU reboot might see different actors portraying the roles of these various mutants.
