The 32-year-old actress, Jennifer Lawrence welcomed her first son, Cy whom she shares with her husband, Cooke Maroney in Los Angeles County in February last year. While she remained tight-lipped about disclosing any details of her child including the name and s*x initially, she finally revealed it in Vogue‘s October 2022 cover story.

She opened up about how motherhood was something “scary” for her to talk about as it left different experiences for everyone.

“Only because it’s so different for everybody. If I say, ‘It was amazing from the start,’ some people will think, ‘It wasn’t amazing for me at first,’ and feel bad.”

Given the complexity of motherhood, she was “fortunate” to have people around her who sincerely shared their experiences with her.

“Fortunately I have so many girlfriends who were honest. Who were like, ‘It’s scary. You might not connect right away. You might not fall in love right away.'”

Through her girlfriends’ guidance, she was able to accept the nature of motherhood. She was ready to forgive herself in case she was unable to fall in love with her then-newborn, but the scenario never really happened.

“I remember walking with one of my best friends at, like, nine months, and being like, ‘Everyone keeps saying that I will love my baby more than my cat. But that’s not true. Maybe I’ll love him as much as my cat?'”

She continued how welcoming her son felt “like my whole life had started over.”
