Jennifer Lawrence Was Hesitant to Star in The Hunger Games

By starring in the multimillion-dollar franchise The Hunger Games, Jennifer Lawrence’s Hollywood career was able to take new heights. Although she had a flourishing career even before starring in the popular film series, the role of Katniss Everdeen made her a household name and led her to gain a worldwide following.

However, the actress later revealed that she was initially hesitant to accept the role in the first Hunger Games movie. Prior to The Hunger Games and the X-Men series, she was known for starring in independent films. So when she received the offer for the 2012 movie, she shared that she considered it too big for her.

“The truth was, from the bottom of my heart, I wanted to do it. I wanted to play this character. I was scared of the aftermath, but you can’t say no to things because you’re scared.”

Although she was scared and hesitant, the Mother star shared that she decided to face her fear and accepted the offer. “You just have to go for it,” she mentioned further in her statement. Despite her hesitancy and fear, Lawrence had a good time working on the movie and loved playing Katniss Everdeen on the screen.

Jennifer Lawrence Would Love to Return as Katniss Everdeen

While she was initially hesitant, Jennifer Lawrence has shared that she loved starring in The Hunger Games movies and working with its cast. And in a recent interview, she has also said that she is open to reprising her character in the possible scenarios.

Talking about her role in the movie series, Lawrence said that she is grateful for having the opportunity to portray the character. During an interview with Variety, Lawrence said, “Totally! Oh my gosh” upon being asked if she would reprise her character in the movie.

“If only Katniss could ever come back into my life, one hundred percent,” she further stated. She stated that she would love to reprise her character if she gets the opportunity in the future adaptation of the novel series.
