In an interview with Elle Magazine, actress Jodie Foster expressed her thoughts on the dominance of superhero films. She articulated how the ‘phase’ of superhero movies has been going for “a little too long.”

She shared,

“It’s a phase. It’s a phase that’s lasted a little too long for me, but it’s a phase, and I’ve seen so many different phases. Hopefully, people will be sick of it soon.”

She continued to claim about the movies that she loves which include two movies from Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

“The good ones—like Iron Man, Black Panther, The Matrix—I marvel at those movies, and I’m swept up in the entertainment of it;”

However, she further added that these movies were not enough of the reason to influence her as an actor. 

“But that’s not why I became an actor. And those movies don’t change my life. Hopefully there’ll be room for everything else.”

What she said is nothing new as many other comic book lovers have been expressing their ideas in quite a similar manner however her statement drew mixed responses. Meanwhile, both the movies The Accused actress mentioned are worth the praise as they helped Marvel in strengthening its franchise.

Jodie Foster mentioned Iron Man and Black Panther movies as the ones she marvels which are undoubtedly one of the best flicks in the superhero genre. Robert Downey Jr. alongside Jon Favreau took a major risk to bring a popular superhero character to life through the first-ever MCU film, Iron Man in 2008.

This movie not only garnered widespread acclaim from all across the world but kickstarted the Marvel Cinematic Universe we know today. From becoming an arrogant, billionaire playboy to becoming one of the great leaders, Tony Stark aka Iron Man’s arc is still one of the best. Meanwhile, the movie also focused on other elements which further made it iconic.

Whereas, Black Panther became a great addon to the Marvel franchise as it touched crucial topics to win the audiences’ hearts.
