Helldivers 2 is the crowning achievement of PlayStation for its multiplayer campaign, and Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead, dreams of the day that his game will be equal to the great library of exclusives like Uncharted and God of War. Sony invests in talent, and its project delivered more than both PlayStation and Arrowhead anticipated.
The sky is the limit when it comes to dreams and ambitions. Johan Pilestedt’s dream is both high and not impossible to achieve. To be in the same category as the greatest is a distinct and rare honor. In recent years, PlayStation has pioneered the significance of narrative-rich games, and their stories have earned the mark of greatness from critics and fans.
Pilestedt wishes for the same level of notoriety for Helldivers 2, and with the current status of the game, it’ll be a matter of time for fans to recognize it as equal to the legacy titles of PlayStation.
Johan Pilestedt Is Yearning for Helldivers 2 to Be One of the PlayStation Powerhouses
It would be a dream come true for Pilestedt if Helldivers 2 were hailed as one of the more known and popular exclusive franchises on PlayStation.
I do agree with you. It's crazy that it might be in the future…. Like… It's a childhood dream come true.

Despite being the director of a multiplayer game that focuses on war with alien threats, Johan Pilestedt is a man of peace. If it weren’t for rival gaming companies like Nintendo, he would not have taken the path of a game developer.
It is also a deviation from PlayStation’s tradition to produce games that are not linear and rich in narrative; however, the great feats Helldivers 2 has accomplished can be an exception and the start of a new generation where Sony can simultaneously work on multiple games with different structures.
Many of the first-party developers that operate under the PlayStation Studios umbrella have all delivered unique and genre-defining games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, GoW, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and many more. Most of them are all linear, so perhaps it is time for Arrowhead’s game to claim its seat amongst the pantheon of greatness.
There Is a Shift in Power Within PS
While there is no lore or story to follow in Arrowhead’s co-op shooter, it will make the game unqualified to participate in contests that have other PS exclusives battle head-to-head. The GoW franchise has been Santa Monica Studios’ most successful, and fans have voted GoW Ragnarok as the greatest PlayStation game.
It will be hard for Arrowhead’s game to compete with that, but maybe it doesn’t have to. The game is focused on a market that is more interested in multiplayer games than single-player stories.
Both games are great in their own right and deserve to be seen as equals, despite the differences in structure.
