WarnerMedia and HBO Max have confirmed Peacemaker Season 2. The TV network is currently working on the season, starring John Cena. It’s a spin-off from James Gunn’s Suicide Squad movie. Peacemaker Season 2 is part of the DC Universe and will consist of seven episodes, all written and directed by Gunn.
The Guardians of the Galaxy director likes using social media to connect with fans and usually shares updates on his projects. He recently confirmed casting details for Peacemaker Season 2 himself. It reveals that Cena and Gunn’s wife, Jennifer Holland, aren’t the only DCU stars returning for the upcoming season.
More Returning DCU Stars Join Peacemaker Season 2
Premiered on HBO Max on January 13, 2022, Peacemaker Season 1 received positive feedback from DC fans. John Cena’s acting as the titular character and James Gunn’s well-crafted script left people excited for more because of how good it was.
Fans have even more reason to be excited because five of their favorite characters are confirmed to be returning, as announced by James Gunn himself.
Gunn confirmed on Threads that Adebayo, Harcourt, and Economos will appear in the upcoming second season. He wrote, “All three are back [in] Season 2.” When asked on the same Thread, if Eagly will also return, Gunn replied, “Ofc.”

James Gunn, the creator of the series and co-CEO of DC Universe, announced that he completed writing the script for Peacemaker Season 2.
On Thursday, Gunn shared more details about his upcoming projects on Threads. The focus was on Peacemaker, which had a successful Season 1. The St. Louis native confirmed that he finished writing Peacemaker Season 2, responding with “Accurate” to a claim from Culture Crave.
Aside from confirming the script for the new season, the 56-year-old also shared more details. A fan asked if “the same intro as the first season or will it be different for the second.” To this, Gunn replied that “a lot of dancing people died first season.” He teased that there will be “a new intro with new characters.“
The co-CEO of DCU is pretty busy. He’s juggling a lot of projects at once with directing and writing DC’s new movie, Superman: Legacy. In addition to Superman: Legacy, he’s also heavily involved in Creature Commandos (DCU’s first project) slated for release next year.
With this year wrapping up soon, getting the show ready for next year is high on his to-do list. Plus, he’s busy with the franchise’s soft reboot, which explains why he’s putting a lot of time into Cena’s project.
Season 2 doesn’t have an official release date yet, but the latest updates are moving it in the right direction.
