Apple Original Films and Skydance Teaming Up for Guy Ritchie’s Heist Movie
Skydance and Apple Original Films are partnering up again for Guy Ritchie’s heist thriller The Fountain of Youth starring A Quiet Place star John Krasinski and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace star Natalie Portman in the lead.
This is not the first time Apple Original Films and Skydance have collaborated, the news of the reteaming of the studios came one month after the success of Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan starrer action comedy The Family Plan.
Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger alongside Vinson Films’ Tripp Vinson, and Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein from Project X Entertainment are producing the film for Apple Original Films. Radio Silence will also join the movie with Ritchie & Ivan Atkinson and Jake Myers serving as executive producers, Deadline reported. The astounding duo of Krasinski and Portman joining the movie with Ritchie set to light the stove makes the project exciting.
The Fountain of Youth’s Star Wars Inspiration
Of course, casting Star Wars alum Portman in the movie is a huge coincidence but remarkably as the initial plot details of the movie are out, it has a striking resemblance with the celebrated franchise’s one key plot.
As per Vanderbilt’s script, the movie will revolve around two estranged siblings to be played by the MCU stars— Krasinski and Portman. The duo will partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth but the road is not so straight as it will be riddled with clues in complex mazes only to be unfolded with their knowledge of history. The adventure will be the journey of a lifetime as it may lead to the key to achieving immortality.
The initial movie plot seems to have been inspired by Luke and Leia from Star Wars— the estranged siblings, who even developed romantic attraction as implied in A New Hope. Further, the duo kissed multiple times in The Empire Strikes Back, however, it is not explicitly clear if The Fountain of Youth siblings will follow the romantic angle and it’s highly unlikely but the estranged siblings on an adventure is certainly a reminder of Luke and Leia. Additional cast and release information of The Fountain of Youth is still under wraps.
