After facing multiple delays, numerous leaks, and not exactly the best preview reception from fans of the Arkhamverse series, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is finally coming out next week on February 2. DC enthusiasts will be put into the shoes of the infamous group of antiheroes known as Task Force X as they take on beloved superheroes ranging from The Flash to Batman.

However, since Rocksteady is focusing on making it a live-service game, the initial release is naturally not going to mark the end of the title’s content, with various seasons planned out that are going to feature new characters.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Will Introduce the Joker in Season 1

Earlier today, Rocksteady shared the highly anticipated news with its fans on the official YouTube channel of Kill the Justice League, confirming that the Joker is coming to the game in just two months. In the developer’s Insider series’ Episode 3, called Introducing Elseworlds, the team gave a slight “sneak peek” regarding the upcoming content that’ll follow the initial launch of the title.

The highlight of the episode was the official look at the Clown Prince of Crime, and the developers explained how his inclusion is even possible, especially considering how “the original Arkhamverse Joker has been dead for five years.”

Rocksteady described the upcoming Joker as “a new Elseworlds twist on the villain,” explaining that he was a part of the Suicide Squad in his own world before being sucked into the adventure in Kill the Justice League. Fans of the characters will be pleased to know that he’ll be a little “more co-operative” than his past video game appearances in the Arkhamverse. But, of course, he would not be the notorious Clown Prince of Crime if he were not “unhinged in a different way.”

The Joker in Kill the Justice League is not only present to cause chaos because this time, he is trying to “figure himself out,” as well as “his place in this new world and this new Squad.” Another difference is that this Joker is still not a full-fledged “supervillain,” so obviously, he is not as experienced as his other previous variants that fans have grown to love.

This is the character heading back to his “more vaudeville roots,” and he will be available as a playable character in the Season 1 update that is scheduled for a March release.

There Seems to Be a Lot More to Come After the Joker’s Debut

According to a leaker, characters like Mrs. Freeze and Deathstroke could be joining the Joker in future seasonal updates.

The Joker is seemingly set to be only the first character being added to Kill the Justice League, as there are plenty of other iconic DC villains who could be making appearances later down the line. A leaker called Miller Ross has shared the potential post-launch roadmap for the first year after Rocksteady’s title releases, which mentions one character coming to each season, with a total of four planned updates.

With the Joker already confirmed to be a part of Season 1, Ross claims that Victoria Fries, who is also known as Mrs. Freeze, will be joining the roster in Season 2.

After that, Kill the Justice League will potentially introduce Zoe Lawton, more commonly known as Lawless, in its third season. This will seemingly be followed by the fan-favorite character Deathstroke, or Slate Wilson, returning to the Arkhamverse in Season 4. That is not all, though, as the leaker claims that he has “seen Killer Croc, Katana, and a couple of others that seem to be earmarked for future playable characters.”
