Thanksgiving is often a very nostalgic holiday for many US citizens because it reminds them of family gatherings when they were kids and those cherished memories. Many famous people have expressed their opinions about this national holiday in the United States quite clearly, with some explaining why they do not celebrate it and others criticizing it. Angelina Jolie, the Maleficent actress, and ex-wife of Brad Pitt, is one of those who is said to despise the celebration.

Well, this year’s Thanksgiving is on Thursday, November 23. It may sound difficult to remember the same date year after year, but it might be simpler if you think of it like this: Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday of November!

Well, this is one of the most celebrated holidays of the year for gathering with loved ones and sharing gratitude, in addition to delicious food.

Although the ‘first’ Thanksgiving was held between 1619 and 1621, the holiday was not necessarily celebrated (or enjoyed) by all Americans.

Is Angelina Jolie Anti-Thanksgiving?

For many of us, Thanksgiving evokes fond memories of family get-togethers. It brings back memories of mouthwatering foods, spending time with distant cousins we only see occasionally, and enjoying football games. But, this is also not a holiday that everyone adores; in fact, a few famous people absolutely detest it.

Fair enough, there are just a few of the reasons why Hollywood’s elite have opted not to join in the fun. Given Thanksgiving’s contentious past, it has been said over the years that Angelina Jolie did not enjoy it.

A close friend of Jolie’s earlier claimed to PopEater, back in 2016, that the 48-year-old actress had no plans to celebrate the American holiday, adding:

“Jolie hates this holiday and wants no part in rewriting history like so many other Americans.”

The source further added:

“To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn’t her style. She definitely doesn’t want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder.”

Angelina gets grossed out by Thanksgiving

Angelina Jolie has gained fame and respect for her charitable work in underdeveloped countries and, also don’t forget that three of her six children were adopted. According to reports, the mother of six used to dislike the national holiday (Thanksgiving) because it made her feel “grossed out”.

Also, her six kids have been kept out of it. As per the source:

“Angelina gets so grossed out by Thanksgiving that she has made sure her family will not be in America this year on Thursday.”

Jolie simply would not eat the turkey and stuffing, despite the fact that her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, and the kids might have been looking forward to it. According to their family friend:

“If Brad wants turkey, he will have to cook it himself. For Angie, it will be another day when America tries to rewrite history.”

The Original Sin actress was said to frequently arrange for the family to leave the country during the holiday, so they would not be exposed to the custom.

She is not the only Hollywood beauty who despises the festival. Thanksgiving was not a part of Emily Blunt‘s family’s holiday tradition because she is from London. She did, however, previously mention that she and her husband, John Krasinski, have celebrated Christmas with some Thanksgiving foods.

In 2014, she told E! News:

“We don’t do Thanksgiving. This year, I said to my husband [John Krasinski], ‘We’re gonna have two turkeys because we haven’t done a turkey at Christmas for the last couple of Christmases and I want to do it.’”

Thanksgiving is a special, cherished holiday for many Americans they enjoy eating turkey or a vegetarian main course while spending time with friends and family. Others, however, find the holiday to be extremely divisive because it has a contentious past that dates back to the first feast.
