On March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors was arrested in response to a domestic violence complaint filed against him by his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Jabbari alleged that the Creed III actor had twisted her hand, punched her, and tried to choke her during a car ride. The incident reportedly happened after Jabbari discovered text messages on Majors’s phone that implied he was cheating on her.
Grace Jabbari is a London-based dancer and movement coach who has worked in films such as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Barbie. Jabbari also worked as a movement coach on the Marvel film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where she first met Majors.
Grace Jabbari Accused Jonathan Majors Of Assault
According to the Associated Press, the NYPD released a statement on March 26 confirming the arrest of Jonathan Majors on assault charges. Grace Jabbari, who was unnamed at the time, informed the police that she had sustained injuries to her head and neck during an assault by the Loki actor. According to the court documents, the assault took place inside a car and started when Jabbari read a text message from Majors to another woman on his phone.
As Jabbari grabbed the phone, Majors allegedly tried to retrieve it forcibly, causing her injuries. The documents stated that when she tried to exit the vehicle, the Da 5 Bloods actor threw her back inside, which caused her “sustained substantial pain, including a fractured finger, bruising about her body, a laceration behind her right ear, and a bump on her head.” (via Daily Mail).
Majors was arraigned on March 26th and he was charged with four counts of misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault. A strangulation charge was initially brought up but was later dropped. According to Variety, Jabbari was granted a temporary order of protection in May. The news outlet also reported of other unnamed women who came forward against the Marvel actor.
In the wake of these accusations, Majors lost some significant advertisement and movie deals. In June, the Devotion actor filed a cross-complaint against the accuser stating that it was she who had assaulted Majors by scratching his right hand and smacking him across the face.
Grace Jabbari Was Arrested For Assaulting Jonathan Majors
Jonathan Majors’s legal team continued to present evidence aimed at proving his innocence and establishing that he was indeed the victim. Shortly after Majors’s cross-complaint, the NYPD issued an investigatory card against the British dancer, alerting officers of probable cause for her arrest when she landed in New York.
On September 12, the defense claimed that the prosecution had withheld significant evidence that would prove Majors’s innocence. Citing the issue, the Gully actor’s attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the charges against him. On October 25th, the motion was denied by New York Judge Michael Gaffey. On the same day, Grace Jabbari was arrested following Majors’ complaint at Manhattan’s 10th Precinct. The dancer was later released on a desk appearance.
However, it appears that the prosecution and police don’t see eye to eye on Jabbari’s charges, as the prosecution allegedly stated that they would not prosecute Jabbari (via The Hollywood Reporter). The trial for this case is scheduled to be heard in the New York Criminal Court on November 29.
