Given the stature of Kang the Conqueror in the comics and the role he is expected to play in the MCU, fans seem to recognize that the actor replacing Majors should have a larger-than-life screen presence. Therefore, a majority of fans have opined that Denzel Washington could be the person to get the job done.
In the past, Denzel Washington has chosen to remain away from big-budget superhero franchises. Earlier in 2023, Washington was allegedly offered the role of Galactus in the MCU, which he reportedly turned down. Marvel Dropped Jonathan Majors, Leaving Kang’s Future Uncertain
On December 18, 2023, actor Jonathan Majors was found guilty in an ongoing domestic violence trial. A few hours after the verdict, Marvel announced it had dropped the actor from all future projects. Majors played variants of Kang in Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The post-credit scene of the latter introduced the Council of Kangs and set the character to be a major villain for Avengers 5 (formerly titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty) and Avengers: Secret Wars.
With Majors no longer attached to play Kang, the character’s future in the MCU remains a massive question mark. Marvel likely only has two options in this scenario. They can either look to recast the role with another actor or choose to move away from Kang the Conqueror. Instead, Dr. Doom is rumored to be in contention as a backup villain to replace Kang in case Marvel parted ways with Majors. Hence, if Marvel recasts the role, many fans will be happy to see Denzel Washington as Kang the Conqueror.
