What do you think Geto was thinking before Toji broke his thought bubble and slashed his torso into a fountain of blood? ‘This cursed spirit possesses a unique skill. But that’s not so strong; I can absorb it.’ Yes, that’s what he thought. Jujtutsu Kaisen Season 2, as action-packed as always, provided viewers with a great treat in the form of much-anticipated character Toji Fushiguro. However, things were not in favour of Geto.

Geto, one of four special-grade sorcerers

Geto, who is believed to have a formidable ability that has earned him the designation of a special-grade Sorcerer, something only four sorcerers have, didn’t have a chance against the Sorcerer Killer. Geto, as a user of Cursed Spirit Manipulation, can easily absorb powerful curses that have either surrendered or lost the fight.

Because of the magnitude of threat Geto posed to humanity, he was labeled the worst of all curse users. Suguru and Gojo Satoru were both rated “the strongest” as students Suguru was capable of dispatching expert curse users with little effort on several occasions. His cursed spirit collection was diverse, having a wide range of skills and battle roles. Suguru was not unduly reliant on his curses and was also a skilled close-quarters fighter.

Suguru utilised his religious group as a bait to collect thousands of cursed spirits throughout his tenure as a curse user. He grew to be a greater menace to humanity than any curse at the time over the course of a decade. Furthermore, he has complete control over them and can readily absorb low-level curses such as the Inventory Curse.

Geto could not absorb Toji’s cursed spirit because of a pact

‘I dont have cursed energy, just like an invisible man. But there’s a problem’, toji says. Looking at a perplexed Geto, toji goes on to explain that he is carrying a cursed tool, and he claims that the cursed energy within the tool might give him away. However, he does have a cursed spirit that can store goods. He transports it with the cursed tool within. He causes the cursed soul to store its own body, shrinking it. After that, he swallows it.

‘An invisible man has invisible organs right?’ he further explains. So here is the deal. Geto can only absorb independent curses. And he is unable to absorb Toji’s cursed spirit since it is bound by a master-servant bond.Toji has trained his cursed spirit to obey his commands. This is only conceivable because, despite possessing a unique ability, the Inventory Curse is a low-level curse.

This can be traced back to Geto’s inability to kill Yuta in the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0. His goal was hampered since Yuta and Riko were connected. And Geto couldn’t take in the special grade curse without killing him. Hence, It also applies to Geto being able to absorb Toji’s curse. In order to do so, Geto must assassinate Toji.
