Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 quickly became a phenomenon in the gaming industry but three months after its release, it seems like the game isn’t exciting enough to keep the players hooked as more and more players have stopped playing the game. There are several reasons behind this, including Sony’s PSN account linking policy implementation and lack of innovative gear, weapons, or Stratagems.

Arrowhead has finally realized that players have been begging to see some new items in the game so, the reward for completing the new Major Order is a new form of Exosuit. There is another way to save the game that players have been suggesting: an Xbox release, but it’s hard to see it becoming a reality. Sony is very protective of its property and giving Microsoft an opportunity to release a profitable game like Helldivers is definitely not their style.

The gaming community is convinced that Helldivers 2 is finally losing its charm three months after its release. After players found out how Helldivers 2 has witnessed a sharp decline in its popularity in an X post by Helldivers 2 Updates, the community started suggesting ways to save the game from dying.
Stop nerfing everything that's fun…

I have 80 hours of gameplay and there is nothing else to do besides farming medals, this is incredibly slow

There nothing to do until they introduce the new faction, it's just gotten dull

This game worked better on release. Now my PC barely runs it. Warbonds are boring. New guns are useless mostly.

Yeah because there’s nothing left to do. Once you unlock everything there’s no incentive to play the game. And that’s on top of all the nerfs and stale warbonds.

Just open it to Xbox players like @SP_SULLY

An Xbox release could potentially save Helldivers 2 but since Sony published and funded Helldivers 2 it’s nearly impossible. The only way to save the game is to make it more exciting and Arrowhead is slowly taking things in that direction. A new Stratagem has been announced today and players can unlock it by completing the latest Major Order.
Why is Helldivers 2 losing popularity?
![A still from Helldivers 2](https://fwmedia.fandomwire.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/18110738/hd2-free-stratea.jpg)
Over the past few weeks, Helldivers 2 has been losing popularity because players have been expecting to see some new items but with every update, players were left more and more disappointed, particularly with the Polar Patriots Warbond.
Then came the nail in the coffin, Sony and Arrowhead announced that it was mandatory for PC players to link PSN accounts to continue playing. This invited a lot of criticism from the community and when Helldivers 2 was bombarded with bad reviews on Steam, the game got delisted in many countries.
Although Sony and Arrowhead revoked the policy, it just couldn’t convince players to return to the game. Apart from all these issues, players have also complained about glitches and bugs in the game. The game’s popularity has certainly plummeted but Arrowhead still has the chance to save the game as the third faction is yet to be revealed.
Helldivers 2 is available on Windows and PlayStation 5.
