The defeat of Kaido during the Wano arc by the hands of Luffy has changed the dynamic of the One Piece story in a major way. Not only has the new Yonkos taken center stage, but the final part of the adventure has also begun, which should ideally end with Luffy finding the One Piece treasure and becoming Pirate King.

The defeat also fulfilled Kaido’s alleged wish to die, which was a big issue for him. However, what if Kaido’s defeat was temporary and the former Emperor of the Sea might make a return to the series one way or another? One Piece fans are not convinced that the Strongest Creature in the world was defeated so easily and was sent to the depths of Wano to die.

According to the One Piece theory, Kaido was not actually trying to die, and it was just a phase. Thus, there is a very good chance that the Governor-General of the Beast Pirates could make a return in the final war of One Piece, and this return could be the result of his Devil Fruit awakening.

Kaido’s Inability to Die in One Piece

Ever since Kaido’s character was introduced in One Piece, his retaliation towards the ideology and politics of the World Government and other authorities has been greatly represented. He is a strong believer in handling issues on a battlefield like brave warriors.

He respects the characters who died fighting on a battlefield, like Whitebeard and Oden. Additionally, his beast is prohibited from dying through normal execution methods that the Navy has used on him continuously. Thus, he developed a hobby of committing suicide to achieve death, which according to him is a glorious moment.

When Kaido fought Luffy, he was excited, as he felt after a long time that someone capable enough had challenged him and might be able to give him the death that he respected the most. And while he eventually reached his demise, he was disappointed in Luffy for the major part of the battle.

Kaido Might Actually Make a Comeback in One Piece

Although Kaido praised death and would have welcomed it if it was honorable, he wasn’t actually suicidal. One Piece fans know that Kaido was a drunkard who would go through different emotions when he was heavily drunk. One of those emotions most likely developed the feeling of death in his mind.

Also, his defeat at the hands of Luffy might look fulfilling from Luffy’s end, but One Piece fans are not convinced that someone as strong as Kaido would end like this.

Even Eiichiro Oda once talked about how he would love to give Kaido the defeat that someone of his status deserved.

Therefore, there is a good chance that Kaido somehow survived the lava depths of Wano (most likely through his Devil Fruit awakening). And if he has survived, he will surely make a return to the One Piece narrative, possibly during the final battle against the World Government.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
