Keanu Reeves talked about his decision at the SDCC to adapt his BRZRKR comic book into anime series with a live-action movie. The comic book was created by Keanu Reeves along with Matt Kindt. A tweet says that he was introduced to anime after The Wachowskis made him watch Akira and Ghost in the Shell to prepare for The Matrix.
Keanu Reeves’s love for anime
The animated series is currently being produced by Production I.G, a Japanese anime studio that produced Ghost in the Shell. Keanu Reeves has expressed his love for the animated medium. He said he watched anime as a kid but back then he did not understand what it was. He was later introduced to films like Akira and Ghost in the Shell by Wachowskis while he was working on The Matrix. He called anime “some of the coolest shit I’ve seen as a human being.”
He praised the ability of the medium to portray action and also to show morality tales about who people are as individuals and what people are about.

Keanu Reeves in the live-action film
BRZRKR is doing exceptionally well in the comic sphere and hence there’s no doubt that the fans will be eager to see Keanu Reeves appear as B in the live-action film. Not only that, but the fans are also waiting to see how Reeves lends his vocal talents to the upcoming anime. Keanu Reeves’s previous works in movies like The Matrix and John Wick franchises will definitely put him in the place where he should be. The decision to go with the anime style for the follow-up series fits perfectly with the comic book because of the violent nature and thus it will likely serve to translate the action as well.
There is no official date for the release of the BRZRKR film or the anime series as of yet, but Keanu Reeves is all set with John Wick: Chapter 4 which will release on March 24, 2023.
