Keanu Reeves Promises To Return for John Wick 5 Under One Condition: "I think we have to wait and see..."

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently in theaters and receiving rave reviews from critics. Already, the spin-off film, Ballerina, is in development and fans are excited to see Reeves join Ana de Armas in it. However, fans of the franchise are hoping for John Wick 5 as well so that they can see Reeves’ titular character get back into the action and continue the storyline of the main films. But will that happen? The Matrix star thinks it’s possible only on one condition.

In an interview with Total Film, Keanu Reeves gave his views on a potential 5th film in the John Wick franchise. He expressed that if audiences love John Wick: Chapter 4 then there might be more. As per The Matrix actor:

“You have to see how the audience responds to what we did. The only reason we’ve had a chance to make these movies is that people have liked what we have done. So I think we have to wait and see how the audience responds to it. Hopefully, they’ll like it.”

Right now, John Wick: Chapter 4 holds a 95% critics score and a 96% audience score. Variety projects that the film will earn anywhere from $65 million to $70 million domestically, and globally it could rake in upwards of $100 million by the end of the opening weekend. As such, the potential of a 5th John Wick film is certainly high if this trend continues. However, before that happens, he will be seen in the Ana de Armas-led spin-off film, Ballerina.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Keanu Reeves talked about working on Ballerina, the spin-off film set in the John Wick universe. He expressed that his part is small, but he loved coming back to the world of the titular hitman. Also, Reeves revealed that the director of the film, Len Wiseman, let him choose when Ballerina will be set. The Matrix actor said:

“Yeah, I got to work with Ana de Armas, and the director Len Wiseman, and they had a great script, and John Wick has a small part to play in it. Len Wiseman was cool. He was like, ‘Where do you want to pitch this story in [the] timeline?’ So, it takes place between chapter 3 and chapter 4 of the John Wick stories. It was fun to put the suit back on.”

“We’ve been in Prague filming for four months, we still have one more month to go, and I’m in pain. My body, my back, everything hurts. I’m sore, I’m bruised…This is another level (of action)”

Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that the breathtaking action will remain the same in its spin-off film and that Reeves will return in Ballerina even if it’s for a small part.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is in theaters, but Ballerina doesn’t have a set release date yet.
