The Ryan Reynolds-led starrer is set to lay the foundation for the entry of mutant heroes in a proper way in the MCU, as the most famous member of X-Men, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will join hands with Deadpool in the film. However, that’s apparently going to be just the start of mutant superhumans’ entry into the MCU, as Feige has ambitious and unorthodox plans for the X-Men reboot.

What Are Kevin Feige’s Plans for Marvel’s X-Men Reboot?

Female-led The Marvels bombed at the box office in November, establishing itself as the lowest-grossing film in the MCU franchise, but it is seemingly unlikely to deter Kevin Feige from taking a bet on female superheroes.

As per CBR, Marvel Studios has started laying plans for the development of the X-Men reboot, with the decision-makers allowing writers to express their ideas with regards to weaving mutant heroes into the MCU.

X-Men characters, like their MCU counterparts, also come from Marvel Comics but weren’t part of the Feige-led franchise initially because 20th Century Fox owned X-Men-related properties for the big screen. In 2019, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox and opened doors for mutant heroes to join their shared universe.

A formal announcement on the X-Men reboot is expected early next year, but insider Daniel Richtman supposedly already has an idea of what the story will focus on. It’s claimed X-Men reboot will depart from its traditional storylines and instead be centered more around the female members of the team, as Feige wants to make the movie as different from the original X-Men series as possible.

What Will Be the Roles of Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy in Kevin Feige’s X-Men Reboot?

This approach would likely mean James McAvoy – who portrayed Charles Xavier in five 20th Century Fox-backed movies, including Deadpool 2 – spending time on the sidelines despite his character being the creator and leader of the X-Men.

It is added that Michael Fassbender‘s Magneto – a founding member of the X-Men – will also have to wait for the time being.

The main villain of the reboot is expected to be Nathaniel Essex/Mr. Sinister, who didn’t feature in Fox’s X-Men universe. Essex was a genius Victorian-era biologist, who predicted the emergence of mutants. Incidentally, a powerful mutant Apocalypse genetically mutated Essex and transformed him into Mr. Sinister.
