The year 2023 was a confusing year for the box office. The recent release of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon has surpassed $100M at the worldwide box office.

The film debuted at just $44 million worldwide. As of today, it made $102.1 million: $45.3 million from the local box office and $56.8 million from the international box office.

As per industry speculation, this epic western crime drama will end its run with over $100 million worldwide. Unfortunately, this makes it clear that the highly anticipated film is a flop.

It is also said that the film will almost fail to make back its huge $200 million budget. So, it might become yet another 2023 big-budget flop. If discussed about the big-budget genre movies, people would rightly see this as a disastrous result.

There might be several factors that didn’t contribute to Killers of the Flower Moon’s success. One of the factors was its three-hour-plus runtime, which seemed to be an issue for the general audience.

As one user (@DavidJa45285014) commented on an X post by Film Updates, “Heard it was long and boring [sleeping emoji].” While another  X user (@M_A_7_U_R) commented, “God awful film Similar to the Irishman long and drag through and through. People were behaving like it’s casino ffs.”
