Kristen Stewart’s s*xually explicit photographs shot for the March edition of Rolling Stone magazine cover went viral immediately. Fans were divided over the s*xualized photographs, but the actor couldn’t care less.
Stewart has been vocal about breaking gender-based stereotypes, and her recent photographs are the extension of the same rage upon the social construct. Following the debate online, Stewart defended the photographs and her bold move.
Kristen Stewart Doesn’t Care About Her Explicit Photoshoot Debate
Twilight fame Kristen Stewart has grown into a fine actor investing more into indie roles, and the actor has marveled at them. But beyond the cinematic landscape, Stewart has been on a clear path of breaking gender stereotypes. Stewart, who is bisexual, recently appeared in Rose Glass’ A24 film Love Lies Bleeding. The Personal Shopper star recently joined a press conference on Sunday at the Berlin Film Festival for the romantic thriller.
“The existence of a female body thrusting any type of sexuality at you that’s not designed for exclusively straight males is something people are not super comfy with and so I’m really happy with it,” Stewart said in the press conference (via THR).
Stewart was beyond being apologetic to satisfy the thirst of fans easily offended by the photographs. “It’s okay to take different pictures and mix them up in a way that people aren’t used to,” she continued. “And want to go and that’s okay, too,” she added. The actor is rather insistent on the fact that the photographs were not designed exclusively for the straight male gaze.
Kristen Stewart Appeared In Lesbian-Themed Love Lies Bleeding
The viral photographs for the Rolling Stone cover perplexed several fans, but it was never a big deal for the 33-year-old star. “It’s pervasive and it’s everywhere and it’s being denied,” Stewart said in the press conference, defending her stance. “And it’s crazy that there aren’t more pictures like that. I loved the opportunity,” she added, making room for more of gender-bending artworks.
Beyond that, her recent film Love Lies Bleeding also clutches on the same rage against the cynical social construct, Stewart is proud of being a part of the narrative that tells a tale of a lesbian couple in love against all odds.
“We can’t keep doing that thing where we tell everyone how to feel, and where we sort of pat each other on the back and receive brownie points for providing space for marginalized voices and only in the capacity that they are allowed to speak about that alone,” Stewart said (via THR).
The Spencer star has been reproving the despot based on gender norms. Per the actor, the normalization of s*xual desires and raw emotions with acute representation on the screen should be synonymous with any mainstream movie. A24’s Love Lies Bleeding is scheduled for 8 March 2024 release.
