Kurt Russell is famous for having played Peter Quill aka Star-Lord’s father Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now, he is being imagined as the Jor-El of James Gunn‘s DC Universe reboot film, Superman: Legacy.

As per a recently viral fan art by Yadvender Singh Rana on Instagram, Russell’s Jor-El can be standing behind Kal-El, his biological son commonly known as Clark Kent. The caption of this post read:

“You will travel far, my little Kal-El, but we will never leave you-even in the face of our deaths. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father.”

If this comes to be true, then it will be like a reunion for Kurt Russell and Gunn as well considering how the filmmaker directed Russell’s Marvel film.

Under this post, one user @themanwithnofear commented his approval, saying:

“Honestly wouldn’t be against Kurt Russell as Jor-el. I’m excited for what comes in the DCU. If it’s bad then it’s bad but I’m taking everything with a grain of salt. And I’ve enjoyed Jimmy Gunn’s movies and shows.”

Another user, @aurelmadnesscostumes commented:

“Ah, nice! That’s a great idea for Russell as Jor-el.”

One other fan said:

“If you can play Wyatt Earp you can play Jor-El.”

Considering this post and the fans’ reactions to it, Kurt Russell seems to have surpassed and left Russell Crowe and Marlon Brando for the role of Jor-El in Superman: Legacy. However, as of now, it isn’t even confirmed if Jor-El will even be in the film, so fans will just have to wait and see until the movie is released to find out how it all pans out.

Superman: Legacy is set to release on the 11th of July, 2025.
