Is Andrew Garfield set to return as Spider-Man?

According to industry insider, Alex P (@AlexFromCC) recently shared an interesting update about Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man after a fan asked her about any update on The Amazing Spider-Man 3. To which she replied,

“I really don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up with this because the chances of him (Garfield) getting a full-blown movie are very minimal. A continuation of his story is 100% coming, but it’s not going to warrant another film at this point in time.”

This update about Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man comes after another industry insider, Daniel Richtman according to ComicBook on his Patreon, had mentioned that the studios are looking forward to getting both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for the upcoming Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. After 2021’s No Way Home became one of the most successful movies, it wouldn’t be surprising if the studios decided to team them up once again.

Richtman suggests that it’s just a rumor and nothing has been confirmed as his sources have shared that Marvel president Kevin Feige wants the movie to be grounded while Sony wants it on a grand scale. Tom Holland and Zendaya will be returning as Peter Parker and MJ, but in an interview with THR, Holland shared that he feels that he’s become too used to the safety blanket of Spider-Man. He added,

“I want to do things that scare me, things that make me uncomfortable. When you do what we do, you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. This show (The Crowded Room) is a perfect example of that. I have never done anything like this before. I got so used to the Marvel machine and the safety blanket of Spider-Man, feeling like I was protected.”

Holland acknowledged that The Crowded Room was scary, but because it was scary, it was fulfilling and rewarding.
