As players wait for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, rightful Soulslike games like Lies of P have been garnering well-deserved attention. The game blessed the Soulslike community in 2023 with an adventure inspired by the tales of Pinnochio, in the bleak yet gorgeous world that tests your limits.
As the game continues to grow with updates and community discussions, the new collaboration with another title makes two of the most challenging Soulslike games sway in harmony.
Celebrating its love for challenging experiences, Neowiz will make the Lies of P x Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty collab available on February 14. Both of these games beautifully wrap historic folklore and tales into an RPG experience that combines different playstyles and movesets. Soon, players will be able to experience some of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s charm in the game.
What can players expect from the Lies of P x Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty collaboration?
Right at the start, the trailer shows off the Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive weapon, and the Armor of the Honorable as well as the Bandana of the Honorable costume. Wielded with two hands, the Glaive is a deadly weapon that’s good for area control and hard-hitting chain combos.
On the other hand, the cosmetic items give P an interesting look that feels historically in place, considering how Wo Long mixes myth and folklore into one exciting narrative.
This collaboration celebrates the launch of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Complete Edition and is a free update to all players. Not only does this celebrate two of the best Soulslike games available right now, but it also gives FromSoftware players a couple of adventures worth hundreds of hours of gameplay while they wait for the next big game.
Moreover, both these games have distinct playstyles and stories, so there’s no question of repetitive gameplay or narrative. Elden Ring may be an open world with a lot of sidequests, but Lies of P and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty have equally enriching non-linear gameplay experiences worthy of multiple playthroughs.
Both these games will keep you on the edge until Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree arrives
Given that all three games fall into the larger umbrella of Soulslike games, the collaboration sheds light on two very distinct tales of horror and mystery. On the one hand, you have the lovely world of Krat to explore; understanding P’s relationship with humanity and how it shapes the game. On the other, you have 184 CE China as a playground for supernatural tricks combined with hardcore fighting combos.
While both of these titles choose their own sense of direction, these become a strong part of how versatile Soulslike games can be. It really depends on your taste for fantasy and fiction before making a decision, but do know that the skill ceiling for both of these games can feel daunting when played at the same time off and on.
The collaboration makes Lies of P enter a realm of interesting new ideas, and we can likely expect more creative content to drop in the future. There’s also a DLC planned, along with a rumored sequel that will tackle the stories from Wizard of Oz. What are your thoughts on the collaboration? Let us know in the comments below.
