6. Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen is a Soulslike, developed by Hexworks and distributed by CI Games. This title was launched last year. The team behind Lords of the Fallen describes it as a dark fantasy action-RPG.

As one of the dark crusaders, you will have to reach Adyr, the demon god, and defeat him. One of the details about Lords of the Fallen is that it works like a sequel or reboot of the first game from the same studio that launched back in 2014. It was a sequel that was going to launch in 2017, but the project was never completed.

The gameplay is very similar to Demon Souls or Dark Souls; you have to create a character. There are 10 different classes to choose from. Then your path to defeating Adyr begins. Lords of the Fallen was released back in October 2023.

5. Blasphemous II

The Penitent is back. This is a Spanish game developed by The Game Kitchen; the studio just opened another branch in Canary Island. Blasphemous II is distributed by Team17.

As a sequel to the game launched in 2019, Blasphemous II was critically acclaimed and very well received by the fans. The Penitent once again is thrown into an infinite cycle of life and death, all to explore these new lands and see the birth of a new messiah.

Blasphemous II offers a new set of abilities to personalize The Penitent for battle. New weapons were added to vanquish your enemies. This Metroidvania, hack-and-slash, and Soulslike game has a non-lineal world to explore full of secrets. The game was released in August of last year.

4. Dead Cells

This game was released back in 2018, becoming an instant classic. Dead Cells was a success for Motion Twin; the title is available on almost every platform. This roguevania is something that the team behind the game called Dead Cells. It is an experience of an infinite loop that, little by little, lets you discover new details of the story and the possibility of advancing to a new area. New characters will be shown, as will new weapons and new permanent enhancements.

Secrets, non-lineal progression, and the best Soulslike 2D experience. Dead Cells has 89 on Metacritic. Time, exploration, and not getting hit will be the key points to completing this highly praised game.

3. Nioh 2

Koei Tecmo and the incredible Team Ninja created a new IP for the past generation. Nioh is an interesting take on the Soulslike games. The creators of the very difficult Ninja Gaiden saga will make you fight with the strongest Yokai.

You have to create your character and travel across a devastated Japan in the Sengoku era. This sequel to the 2017 game brought several new mechanics; the most important is the ability to become a Yokai for a limited time.

Nioh 2 was released on PC in 2021, with the Complete Edition now available.

2. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Respawn Entertainment, a former part of the Infinity Ward team that developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, took a step back from the first-person shooter genre and created one of the best games in the Star Wars franchise.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a very nice surprise for fans of George Lucas’s creation. The game presented an incredible story with fascinating gameplay and many mechanics taken from the Soulslike sub-genre.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor upgrades all the things that the first game did well and gives you a much more mature Cal Kestis on his quest to save the remaining Jedi across the galaxy. New abilities will be available as new and deadly enemies appear in your way.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was released in April last year.

1. Lies of P

This game, developed and distributed by Neowiz, was one of the best-received games of last year. Lies of P puts you in the body of a steampunk Pinocchio created by Geppetto. A mysterious voice wakes you up to wander into the streets of Krat, a city full of bloodthirsty enemies. To discover the secrets behind all the things that are happening, you have to adapt to every combat with the different weapons you have.

Some players called this game one of the best Soulslike games up to date. Lies of P was released in September of last year.
