Much was said regarding The Day Before in the lead-up to its launch in December 2023 and many were surprised just how long it lasted. Despite the game being billed as an exciting survival horror game, it was plagued with issues and controversies, which saw it crash and burn dramatically in dramatic fashion.
So it is maybe with some surprise that the title appeared on the Valve platform after it was shut down by the developers. Surely the backlash that Fntastic had from fans and the subsequent refunds that had to be paid out would stop them from showing face. However, like the undead zombies of the game, it appears to have been re-animated.
How has The Day Before reappeared on Steam?
As reported by PC Gamer the game apparently rose from the dead which no doubt would have caught many by surprise, given the comments from developers at Fntastic. The mud-slinging after the game shut down didn’t endear the company to fans who had sadly parted with their hard-earned money to pick up their dumpster fire of a game.
However, if you scratch away at the surface, all is not as it seems with the latest entry. Up until yesterday (15 February), the entry belonged to a game called Carrot The Cat and in the hours that followed it appeared to morph into a semi-convincing iteration of the survival-horror game which shut down for good in December.
It all seems highly suspicious as to why anyone would go to these lengths to apparently clone a game but is perhaps that it was marketed at a substantially lower cost than when it was released. The offenders in question could have been looking to cash in on those who didn’t get a chance to play the game the first time around.

Despite this latest development, questions still remain about the original title and how after being in development for so long, was released full of issues and then pulled in quick succession. It just doesn’t sit right.
Many in the community suspected that the game was some of a scam and those comments have been echoed by many. For a game to shut down four days after launch has major alarm bells ringing and hopefully those players who were foolish enough to buy into this title have managed to get their money back.
Given the poor reception surrounding The Day Before and how quickly it was shut down, many would be surprised to see it re-appear on Steam. However, on closer inspection, it appears that this is a scam and should be avoided at all costs. Hopefully, this will be addressed by the team at Valve and they will see fit to remove this.
