However, behind the scenes of this stunning Star Wars universe lies a tale of unfulfilled potential and missed opportunities. Before the Star Wars series inadvertently ruined the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett’s image, James Mangold, the director of Logan, yearned to resurrect the character’s formidable legacy through a thrilling standalone movie.

In the Star Wars franchise, Boba Fett has been projected as an anti-hero. It has been played by Temuera Morrison, who has given his face along with his voice to the beloved character for several years.

That was until it was shown in the 1983 movie, Return of the Jedi when Boba Fett was seen falling into the lethal Sarlacc pit. This happened when a semi-blinded Han Solo inadvertently hit Fett with a stick in the movie, making his jetpack break down, and leading him to fall into the mouth of the ginormous sand monster, the Sarlacc. Since the sarlacc’s stomach is filled with acid, the fans had assumed Boba Fett to be dead.

However, in the spin-off series from The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian season 1 and 2, the iconic bounty hunter is said to have miraculously survived, having drawn oxygen from a stormtrooper’s helmet, and then blazing out with his wrist-mounted flamethrower.

Moreover, as confirmed by the actor himself, Temuera Morrison was never called for reprising his Boba Fett role in The Mandalorian season 3 by Lucasfilm.

“I was supposed to be in The Mandalorian season 3 but nobody rang me. I was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up.”

So we can assume that there will be no Boba Fett in season 3 of the series streaming on Disney+. However, reports are claiming that Temuera Morrison’s Boba Fett will come back up in a bigger and better way. While these are still unconfirmed, fans are holding on and hoping for the best.

Long before the Star Wars series humiliated this iconic character, the MCU superhit Logan‘s director, James Mangold had the burning desire to create a movie that dived into Boba Fett’s mysterious past, his extraordinary skills, and ultimately redefined his place within the Star Wars saga.

Mangold, being as obsessed as he was with the iconic Star Wars character did reportedly draw out a storyline as to how the movie would come about. Later on, his ideas were transformed into the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett. As the details of Mongold’s project were not revealed, it is hard to say how much of his ideas have survived.
