An updated synopsis for Loki‘s impending second season has been revealed by Marvel Studios, giving us a better idea of what to anticipate from Tom Hiddleston‘s return to Disney+.

“‘Loki’ Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.”

The Gods of Mischief (Loki and Sylvie) finding He Who Remains at the end of time marked the conclusion of Loki‘s first season. It’s safe to say Loki season 2 will be one of Phase Five’s most significant episodes given how dramatically the Multiverse Saga will affect the MCU’s future.

What Could It Bring?

As expected, season one ended with a catastrophic event that established multiverses. The first season’s finale saw Sylvie carry out her plan to kill He Who Remains, shattering the Sacred Timeline and igniting The Multiverse in the process.

The God of Mischief then appeared in what he thought to be the familiar surroundings of The TVA, only to find that he had actually entered a reality ruled by a different Kang Variant.

Both Loki and Mobius are coming back, and Mobius has somehow either regained his memory, gotten to know this Loki, or is a version that is already aware of all the commotion. In any case, they’re on the same page.

Hunter B-15 and Mobius don’t remember the old timeline. However, Loki definitely does, most likely as a result of his encounter with He Who Remains. If that’s the case, Sylvie may also recall him, making the two of them the Multiverse’s best hope for intervening against this new Variant in command. Also, it could mean that Hunter B-15 and Mobius also get their memories back!

Loki 2 premieres on Disney Plus on October 6, 2023.
