Netflix’s One Piece Live Action has set the standard for anime live adaptation. After years of being oppressed with failures in this particular genre, Eiichiro Oda and Netflix took it upon themselves to deliver the best anime live adaptation to date. Netflix’s One Piece became such an iconic show that it has been renewed for a second season, and others are following the path that it set.
Like One Piece, another popular 1990s anime will soon get live-action. The expectations are high surrounding it. The anime in talks is none other than Yoshihiro Togashi’s iconic Yu Yu Hakusho, which will have its live-action release on December 14, 2023. After the second trailer was released a few hours ago, the fans are already claiming that it is better than One Piece Live Action.
After One Piece, Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action Has Raised Expectations
The second trailer of Yu Yu Hakusho Live Action was released a few hours ago, and within a short time, it has gained over 350K views on social media. Like One Piece, it will be released under Nerflix’s banner, but it will have a Japanese cast. The trailer looks great, and the cast will remind the fans of the original anime with their fashion. But the live-action might be a bit darker than the anime.
The number of episodes is yet to be announced, and it will follow the plot of Yoshihiro Togashi’s magnum opus. Kazutaka Sakamoto is the executive director of the series. The detailing looks great, and the anime fandom could barely control their joy. The trailer gave us a glimpse of fan-favorite villains, younger Toguro and Koenma. Takumi Kitamura will play the role of Yusuke Urameshi. Since the trailer dropped, social media has been going crazy over it.
Fans React to Netflix’s Yu Yu Hakusho Trailer
Yu Yu Hakusho’s trailer has gained a lot of praise from the fandom. Praise was pouring down from every angle, and people could hardly disagree with them. The animation of the ‘Yokai’ also looked great. One of the netizens wrote, “Ngl, this looks better than One Piece.”

One Piece is not the only one that it is being compared to. People are claiming that the trailer looks better than Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop.
Looks better than Cowboy Bebop’s live action already.

Another one said that the trailer looks dope and hopes that the series will keep Toguro for more than one season. But overall, it looks and feels great, and the characters also look perfect.
Trailer looks dope. I just hope they aren’t speed running the Toguru character arc in one season. That was my first red flag. But honestly the look, feel, and characters look perfect!

Several people commented that live actions have started to look a lot better these days. Even though Netflix’s Yu Yu Hakusho is receiving such praise, there is one thing that the fans will be disappointed with. Kazuma Kuwabara’s iconic pompadour will not be included in the live-action. One Piece has shown how things are done in the anime live adaptation business. It is now time to see whether Yu Yu Hakusho can justify the fans’ love and expectations on December 14, 2023.
