With a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Megamind (2010) quickly found a place in the hearts of those who love animated comedies. Thanks to incredible reviews, both from fans and critics, it was only a matter of time before a sequel would be announced to the world. Well, the sequel has finally been announced titled, Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate.
Unfortunately, it does not look like the sequel is off to the best start as it is already facing criticism from the fans for a few reasons. One of these very valid reasons had something to do with the newly released poster for the film. The poster garnered a ton of backlash from fans of the alien supervillain as they claim the artwork looks like it was done for an old-gen video game and not an actual movie.
Megamind 2 Disappoints with Low-Effort Poster
While fans were looking forward to the release of Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate, they seem to have stopped dead in their tracks. As the film is set to release in the coming month, the recent poster release has not been well-received by the fans who are calling DreamWorks out for a shoddy job.
Well, the fans are not wrong. In an era where technology and digital art have reached wondrous heights, the poster for the sequel sure is a disappointment, unlike its predecessor. For reference, take a look at one of the posters of the 2010 film.
Now that’s what we call an eye-catching poster!
In other news, the sub-par poster is not the only thing that has upset the fans. Unimpressive CGI and the absence of the O.G. cast, especially Will Ferrell, has left fans disappointed. Voice actor Keith Ferguson has taken over the titular character in the sequel.
Fans Put Megamind 2’s Poster on Blast
After the poster was unveiled, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their disapproval of the artwork. They rightfully stated that the poster looks like it was made for a videogame from the era of PlayStation 3 and Wii.
Some even compared the artwork to that of Paw Patrol the Mighty Movie, which says a lot. Take a look at what the fans of the movie had to say about it all:

A sequel to Megamind had always been on the minds of fans who loved seeing Ferrell play the alien back in 2010. However, looking at everything that has been going wrong for the film, Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate has a lot to prove for its own sake.
Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate will be released on March 01, 2024, only on Peacock.
