Despite the relentless shipping by the fans, Kate Winslet has repeatedly asserted that she and Leonardo DiCaprio are just good friends. During the release of The Mountain Between Us, when the actress sat for an interview with host Lorraine Kelly, she apologized for disappointing the fans but stated that they never “fancied” each other.
It was seven months of very intense work and we were very young. Luckily, Leo and I never fancied each other, sorry I know that’s really annoying to hear! But that was very fortunate. We were just able to tease each other – it was really amazing.
Following Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet flaunted their brilliant chemistry again in 2008’s Revolutionary Road. The Avatar: The Way of Water actress admitted that she was surprised to see that even after so many years, she still had the same chemistry with the actor.
Although the fans would have been happier to see them together in real life, maintaining a deep friendship rather than a romantic union helped their bond from getting affected by scandals or any other major problem.

Although the fans have missed the on-screen pair of Kate Winslet and the Catch Me If You Can actor following 2008’s Revolutionary Road, the latter expressed his wish to reunite again. During the 2016 Golden Globes, Leonardo DiCaprio stated (via Elle) that he would love to work with his “favorite actress” again.

Interestingly, DiCaprio’s feelings did not go unreciprocated as Kate Winslet also stated in an interview (via Elle) that she loved the presently 49-year-old actor and praised him as her “closest friend in the world”. The Shutter Island actor also walked Winslet down the aisle during her wedding.
While it remains to be seen if we can spot the duo again in any project, their friendship will undoubtedly go down as one of the best in Hollywood’s history.
